Imo State has been described as the fastest developing state East of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ,considering far reaching infrastructural development programs and projects of the 3R Shared Prosperity government of Sen Hope Uzodinma in the last four years in the State and his recent inauguration for another four years in Office, the State is better positioned to record an unprecedented and accelerated socioeconomic transformation in the next few years.
This was the position of a prominent leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Orsu Local Government Area and Frontline Local Government Council Chairmanship aspirant in the Area, High Chief,Hon Mac-Hycent Uzomewulu of Macwulu Solar Energy fame.
According to the Awo-Idemili born business mogul turned politician, the strategic location of Imo State and the great leadership ingenuity of the Uzodimma led administration has successfully repositioned the State and opened up new opportunities in diverse sectors that hitherto suffered neglect over the years and as a result placed Imo State on the threshold of sustainable and rapid socioeconomic transformation.
The Council Chairmanship aspirant made the assertion penultimate Week while fielding questions to newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State Capital as he bared his mind on future development prospects for the state with the return of Senator Hope Uzodimma as a second term Governor.
Chief Uzomewulu posited that despite enormity of security challenges and negative orchestrations mounted in the State against Senator Uzodimma’s led administration during his first tenure, the Governor was able to navigate through the stormy weather and achieved so much in key sectors that have pivotal and foundational bearing in getting the state out of protracted socioeconomic quagmire, especially road infrastructure and education, adding that the foresight of the Governor in ensuring transparency in government business and providing enabling environment for smooth running of social and economic activities enhanced productivity and increase in revenue generation.
Speaking further,Chief Mac-Hycent Uzomewulu disclosed that the Governor’s ambitious road construction and reconstruction initiative unlocked the chain of socioeconomic development because of the importance of good communicable road network in the development of any economy.He observed that the giant strides in road infrastructure which made possible the reconstruction of Owerri -Orlu road, Okigwe -Owerri road, ongoing Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia road, several inter local Government Area roads, Owerri City roads like MCC, Port-Harcourt road, Chukwuma Nwaoha,World Bank, Specialist Hospital road,Orlu road etc and various rural roads that got rehabilitated during the first tenure of the Governor helped in no small way to boost the economy as a result of the ease of moving goods and services across the state.
On the spate of insecurity that engulfed the State in the last three years, Chief Uzomewulu said that Imo State would have completely collapsed if not that it was lucky to have a patriotic, selfless, courageous, people oriented, hardworking and highly focused leader like Senator Hope Uzodimma as a Governor. According to him, the Governor was able to weather the storm and rescue the State from the raging insecurity that was politically contrived to distract and disrupt the smooth running of the state.
He opined that stemming the tide of insecurity, construction of good roads, establishment of new Universities, improved welfare packages for the workers and prompt payment of their salaries and pensions, improved health care services, harnessing of the vast potential of the state and recovery of collapsed state owned industries among other things energized socioeconomic activities which have cumulative effect on creation of more jobs and improved internal revenue generation.
Chief Uzomewulu insisted that Imo State under Distinguished Senator Uzodinma in the last four years recorded rapid socioeconomic transformation because of his style of leadership that is rooted in vision and mission of social welfare and shared prosperity principle that involves generality of the people as partakers.
He said that the good people of Imo reciprocated to the good things the Governor did for them by shunning naysayers and vindictive opposition in the State during the November 11,2023 gubernatorial election which they trouped en masse to reelect him for another four years in Office.
On the successful inauguration of the Governor for a second term of Office and prospects for the state, the Council Chairmanship aspirant was emphatic that the Governor’s second term will be smooth and more successful as he argued that having successfully dislodged the bandits and the vindictive opposition which could not stop him from performing well during the turbulent first tenure,that the second term will be unprecedented and remarkable in consolidating the achievements recorded earlier and standing on such solid and durable foundation to build the mighty and giant Imo of our collective dream.
He commended Senator Uzodinma for being visionary and committed to the development and restoration of the lost glory of the state and encouraged him to remain focused as a leader working on the set target to liberate his people from poverty and deprivation, adding that before the end of the four years of Senator Uzodinma’s second tenure,Imo State would be located in the map of world’s developed Cities and States.
