The sole administrator of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon. Christian Nze, has inaugurated the interim executive council of Umuoyima Youth Organization.
The inauguration ceremony which took place at the Owerri Municipal Council on Wednesday, January 11, had some prominent people of the community present to witness the event.
The inaugurated interim exco of Umuoyima Youth Organization comprises the following: Ikechukwu Ofurum( Chairman), Chijioke Ucheoma (Secretary), Sylvester Ebere, Chiwuogu Nkwopara, Moses Mbanu, Chukwunonyerem Eziefula, Innocent Osigwe.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Sole Administrator, Hon. Christian Nze, charged the youth leaders to work for peace in the community, carry everyone along, give respect to the elders in carrying out their duties.
Hon. Nze also appreciate d the youth leaders for understanding and supporting the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma who, according to him, had done a lot for the people of Umuoyima and Owerri Municipal Council.
He described Governor Uzodinma as having special love for Owerri Municipal, hence the appointment of their sons like Hon. Chinasa Nwaneri( Special Duties), Hon. Macdonald Ebere( APC state chairman) and SA security into important offices.
Nze urged them to spread the good news of Governor Uzodinma’s good deeds to the people, noting that his own appointment as Sole Administrator was the first time in the history of Owerri Municipal Council .
The council boss said that Uzodinma had great respect for traditional rulers and the youth and had embraced them as partners in moving the state forward.
Also addressing the youth, a stakeholder in the community, Chief Henry Uba expressed his joy at the inauguration of the interim exco of Umuoyima Youth Organization, describing them as the eye of the community.
Stressing that peace must reign in Umuoyima community, Uba urged them to see their appointment by the Solad as a privilege which called for results delivery.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation of things in Umuoyima community, advising the youth not to use their positions to oppress anyone as they are there for the community.
Chief Uba noted that the interim exco had the support of the entire youth of Umuoyima community and called on them to have listening ears and avoid forming cliques.
He appreciated Governor Hope Uzodinma for appointing an Umuoyima son as Sole Administrator, for the first time in history.
The President General of Umuoyima community, Mr. Azuoma Anukam called on the youth leaders to use the opportunity to correct things that need to be corrected.
The traditional ruler of Umuoyima community, HRH Eze Theophilus Uba thanked the Sole Administrator, Hon. Christian Nze for his efforts at putting the interim exco in place, declaring that he had confidence in them to deliver as expected.
Eze Uba described the Chairman of the interim youth exco as well known for his straightforwardness.
The traditional ruler reminded the youth leaders not to forget they were appointed into office by the sole administrator and must not disappoint him.
He appreciated Governor Uzodinma for appointing an Umuoyima son as Sole Administrator and other good things he had done for Owerri Municipal Council such as the restoration of Ekeukwu market, adding that APC had done well for his people.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs Ijeoma Uba urged the youth leaders to endeavour to restore peace in Umuoyima community, attract development, give everyone a sense of belonging.
Speaking on behalf of the youth leaders, the Chairman, Mr. Ikechukwu Ofurum thanked the sole administrator for their appointment and expressed their support for him and the APC administration.
One of the youth leaders, Sylvester Ebere gave the vote of thanks, with a promise that their team would do well and not disappoint.
