Sequel to mass criticism by a cross section of Orlu people who have continuously expressed dismay about how the incumbent lawmaker for Orlu State constituency, Pascal Okolie who should have concentrated on winning election by showcasing his achievement since he assumed office, if any had resorted to frustrating his opponent, Comrade Precious Nwadike through lawsuits.
Comrade Nwadike as gathered has become Pascal Okolie’s greatest nightmare given that the Umudiatu Orlu born Human rights activist is highly loved by his people.
Okolie, who is alleged to be using public funds to intimidate the youthful candidate of Labour Party is said to have confided in one of his loyalists that he is doing everything possible to stop Comrade Nwadike who is said to enjoy mass support and acceptance from contesting the election at all cost.
According to the source who pleaded anonymity, Pascal Okolie said , “with the way and manner that Precious Nwadike is reaching out to the people and conducting issue based campaigns that are in tandem with his antecedents, track record and verifiable achievements, if he is not stopped, he (Pascal) will be disgraced at the polls, come 2023’’. Hence, the only option available for him is to use every possible legal means to stop Nwadike from contesting the election’’.
The source also revealed that most leaders of Pascal Okolie’s party, the PDP in Orlu LGA and beyond have endorsed and thrown their weight behind the Labour Party Candidate, Nwadike who according to them is more focused, vocal, result-oriented and passionate about the welfare of the people. Hence they regretted making the mistake of ceding the party’s ticket to Okolie, instead of respecting the zoning arrangement that exists between the two clans.
‘’The PDP is presently in disarray as the leaders now regret their action.The only consolation Okolie has apart from court is that he is sponsoring a lady from Nwadike’s ward through a prominent politician in the area.We know his gimmicks.He did it during PDP primary when he cornered one Uzomba whose transportation and hotel accommodation were bankrolled by Comrade Precious Nwadike to come and support him, only to arrive Imo and strike deal with Okolie to contest the Primary against Nwadike who paid his fees back home.As an LGA officer of the party, I am aware that Uzomba was not contesting election but to distract Nwadike and divide his votes”,the source hinted.
