…As community stakeholders pass vote of confidence on new leadership

Few days after the emergence of Barr. Canice Madukaji (Obulimba) as President- General,PG of Umuoba Town Union (UTU), through a democratic election, stakeholders of Umuoba community have unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on their newly elected PG and his executive.
The stakeholders, during a high-level meeting on Monday, at Oha Umuoba Town Hall, passed the Vote of Confidence on the new leadership of UTU to carry on the full functional government of the community.
The meeting is said to mark a significant step towards the unity, peace and strengthen collaboration as well as advance development in the area.
Speaking, the PG of Umuoba, Barr. Madukaji, hinted that the meeting addressed penitent issues of the community which included the Nkwo Umuoba Market Square management issues, fetish activities done within the market environment by some persons.
He informed that it was clearly stated that revenue accruing to Umuoba from all avenues must be channeled through the PG and his executive as they are fully in charge of that according to the extant constitution of the community.
Madukaji, on behalf of the executive members, deeply thanked the stakeholders for their support and invaluable contributions to the community’s progress, adding that their inputs are highly acknowledged and appreciated.
Some of the stakeholders in the meeting were Nze George Onwuanibe (Chairman, UTU Elders Council), Prof. Anthony Emeribe, Dr. Gabriel Ahumibe, Elder Hyginus Orisakwe, Sir Patrick Oparanozie, Sir Morris Ibekwe, Elder Patrick Obiakor, Elder Felix Ejimkeonye, Chief Morgan Ajaero, (pioneer leader and PG of Umuoba), Sir Athan Oparaugo and Mr. Matthew Obichere.
Earlier, indigenes of Umuoba Obibi Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State through a delegate pattern of voting credibly and peacefully elected the new UTU leaders whose offices except that of Public Relations Officer (PRO) were contested unopposed given to extant zoning and charter of equity practiced by the people.
The leaders who were sworn in immediately after the election by the Electoral Committee Secretary, Francis Mbata, are to steer the affairs of the community for a period of 5 years.
Chairman, Electoral Committee, Comr. Okechukwu Ejimkeonye, charged them to deliver on the mandate assigned to them by the people and discharge their leadership duties with dignity and human face.
Other prominent indigenes of the area: Hon. Ndeze Anyasodor (Councillor representing Obibi Ward 1 in Owerri North Council), Sir Athan Oparaugo,
(Cabinet Chairman, Obibi Uratta autonomous community who represented Eze Boniface Iheanacho Ariri) and Okechukwu Ofurum, enjoined the new leaders to always pursue peace, unity and stability of the community to strengthen growth and progress.
