… They urge, run for 2027 guber

The former Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Hon Charles Orie, recently met with Imo indigenes in Diaspora ahead of the next political dispensation.
At the meeting which held in Paris, France, Hon Orie
emphasized his vision for Imo progress and prosperity.
Hon.Orie expressed humility and honor at being considered for leadership, highlighting the need for a new era of progress and global excellence in Imo State.
He emphasised the importance of integrity, innovation, and international best practices in leadership, reflecting his background as a politician-technocrat with expertise in developmental economics.
Speaking further, Hon Orie acknowledged the presence of Imo diaspora communities in Europe, recognizing their potential role in shaping the state’s future.
The former Managing Director off ISOPADEC suggested a commitment to progressive leadership, aligning with his involvement in the Imo State Progressives for Change 2027.
He hinted that Imo State diaspora community has shown remarkable resilience and brilliance globally, saying that their financial contributions to the state’s economy through remittances were undeniable.
Orie noted that with an estimated $3 billion in remittances in 2024, the diasporans have become the backbone of Imo economy. This achievement according to him, highlights the community’s potential to drive progress and prosperity in Imo State.
Orie maintained that Imolites in the diaspora have demonstrated excellence in various fields, setting a positive example for future generations, through community engagement. He said
that the diaspora’s presence, whether physical or digital, underscores their dedication to Imo State development and their willingness to collaborate with stakeholders.
“To leverage the diaspora’s potential, it’s essential to;
foster transparency and accountability, ensure good governance and transparency in state affairs to build trust and encourage further investment,” the ex-ISOPADEC boss stated
He harped on the need to empower entrepreneurs and technocrats, as well as to support initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and knowledge sharing between the diaspora and local communities including encouraging investment by creating opportunities for diasporans to invest in Imo State’s development, leveraging their expertise.
“By working together, the Imo State diaspora and local stakeholders can shape a brighter future for the state, driving progress and prosperity for all.
He further, highlights the potential for Imo State’s progress, emphasizing unity, commitment, and a shared vision. The key points according to him include leadership legacy. He recalled past governors who contributed to Imo State’s development, including,
Chief Achike Udenwa (1999-2007), established the Imo State Secretariat, initiated infrastructure projects, and developed residential areas such as Civic Center and Achike Udenwa Estate;
Governor Ikedi Ohakim (2007-2011), for improving road infrastructure and urban renewal,
Governor Rochas Okorocha (2011-2019) for transforming Owerri and introduced bold changes; Governor Hope Uzodinma (2020-present) for building on previous achievements, focusing on road construction, healthcare, and pension reforms.
Hon. Orie, acknowledged the call to join the governorship race, expressing humility and gratitude. However, they will wait for the appropriate moment for him to make an official declaration, following electoral guidelines.
“By leveraging the diaspora’s potential and building on past achievements, Imo State can unlock its true potential and command respect globally.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it according to Peter Ducker.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together…, let us make history together,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the representatives that graced the meeting,
including
the Imo State Community in Europe (ICE), which was represented by the President,
High Chief Nwalibe and Dr. Ahams Adom the Secretary; the President of the Imo State Association in France, as well as the presidents of various Imo State associations across European countries. Others include the Diaspora Coordinator of the Imo State Progressives for Change 2027, alongside the dedicated Country Coordinators from the USA, UK, Canada, and other parts of Europe.
