University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Umuagwo Entreprenurship Centre Holds it’s 2nd Skill Acquisition Exhibition and Competition 

On the 28th of March 2024 , The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Umuagwo Entrepreneurship Centre hosted an exciting event – a skill acquisition exhibition and competition where various Departments showcased their expertise in producing various entrepreneurial items ranging from website development, footwear, liquid soap, perfumes, liquid paint, finger foods, engine oil, and lots more. The exhibition aimed to foster innovation, creativity, and practical skills among students.

The event attracted esteemed visitors from the National Productivity Council who were on ground to monitor , evaluate and encourage the industrial skills of the students.

This underscores the institutions commitment to  skill acquisition and community engagement as a panacea for economic development.

The school management, led by Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze and other members of management were on ground to witness the students exhibition. In his opening remarks he  courages the students to pay keen attention to developing their entrepreneurial skill as it presents a better opportunity for them today in world economy. The Ag. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr. Desmond Echeta thanked the University Management for the support they have reposed on him and inadvertently shown to the Entrepreneurship Centre. He enthused that the students have originally formulated, and produced all the items on display.

A panel of judges evaluated the departmental presentations based on predetermined criteria, including:

 

  1. *Product quality*: The quality and effectiveness of the products.
  2. *Innovation*: The level of creativity and innovation demonstrated.
  3. *Presentation*: The clarity and effectiveness of the presentation.
  4. ⁠*packaging* : The presentation and beauty of the product.After careful evaluation, the winners were:

 

*1st Position: Computer Science Department*: They developed and test ran a website built for the Entrepreneurship Centre .

*2nd Position: Department of Electrical Electronics*: The Department of Electrical Electronics used some equipments to solve digital problems with network.

*3rd Position: Peace and Conflict Resolution:* : They produced a range of items from perfumes, footwears, soaps etc

The Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics Dr. Obinna Adumanya  in his closing remarks remarks, emphasized the importance of practical skills and innovation in today’s competitive world. The event concluded on a high note, with participants and attendees alike benefiting from the experience.
