Renowned journalist and Nigeria Newspoint Newspaper, Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, Elder Lambert Ojukwu has been honoured with the Distinguished Media Icon Award at the 25th Anniversary of Christian Voice Newspaper held in Owerri,Imo state capital, last Saturday.
The honour was in recognition of Ojukwu’s outstanding contributions to journalism and the media profession.
Presenting the award at the event which had the Imo deputy governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, representative of ex-Imo governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hope Uzodinma, Oguwike Nwachukwu
and other dignatories in attendance, Bishop Chukwuma Oparah of the Diocese of Owerri, Anglican Communion, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining Christian Voice Newspaper in the last 25 years despite challenges.
Bishop Oparah also prayed God to continue to sustain the awardees in the discharge of their important assignment to society.
The Chairman of the occasion, Sir Henry Ogojiaku expressed delight at the growth of the Christian Voice Newspaper in the last 25 years, and urged the newspaper to stand firm in the dissemination of truthful information as well as up the ante on spiritual issues.
Earlier in a homily during the anniversary church service held at St James Church, Uzii, along Mbaise road, Owerri ,Ven Nlemchukwu recalled the challenges faced by Christian Voice Newspaper especially at inception, hinted that the newspaper metamorphosed from an outreach to Anglican Voice, later Christian Voice Newspaper.
Ven Nlemchukwu described newspaper publishing as a serious, capital intensive venture, noting that some other newspapers that started with the Christian Voice have collapsed.
The clergyman expressed confidence that the Christian Voice Newspaper would continue in its mandate to propagate truthful information at all times.
Highlight of the event was the cutting of the anniversary cake by the Bishop Oparah and wife, with the support of the Imo deputy governor, Lady Ekomaru and husband, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru; Chief Press Secretary to Rt Hon Ihedioha, Comrade Ori Martin, chairman of the occasion, Sir Ogojiaku, Archdeacons, among others.
