The Old Boys of Oguta Trinity College, TOBA world wide, have donated a complete band set to their Alma mater barely two months after embarking on perimetre fencing of the school premises in Imo state.
Presenting the band to the staff and students of the school, secretary of the Association world wide, Sir Uche Mgbenani explained that the association deemed it fit to provide the instruments to the school as a way of showing concern to the plight of the college.
He asserted that the association will ever be willing to come to the rescue of the school whenever the need to do so arises.
Mgbenani advised them to handle the instruments with care and by so doing keep the flag flying.
” We are here today to once more demonstrate the love and gratitude we have for our Alma Mater and to renew our mission, which is to instruct, rehabilitate and reconstruct our Alma Mater.
This school is known for academic excellence, but at a point the school began to experience low town out in terms of admission, including infrastructural deficit.
” But today, by the provision of this band and other necessary needs, the school will come back to life and occupy its former glory.” he expressed.
In his speech, the Principal of the school,Mr Kelvin Azugwu, thanked the Old Boys for the kind gestures they have been demonstrating towards the upkeep of the college.
He informed that with the donation of the band set, that the school will witness a glamorous annual Inter House Sports this year.
The Principal promised that the instruments will be handled and protected with utmost care.
Expressing gratitude, the Assistant Senior Prefect of the school, John Paul Ishiodu on behalf of the students thanked the association for coming to their aid.
He maintained that the students will ever remain grateful and prayed that God will continue to replenish their pockets.
The secretary, was accompanied with the 1976 band leader of the school, Joseph Adizua and welfare officer of the Old Boys, Herbert Emeruem.
Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the instruments to the admiration of staff and students of the college.
The Principal also conducted the Old boys round the school premises to witness the on going perimetre fencing project which the Old Boys started two months ago.
