Need To Expedite Action On Imo Roads As Rainy Season Nears

The importance of roads in the economic growth and overall development of a state cannot be over-emphasised.

Many Imo roads especially, in the rural communities need serious attention.

Even some roads within the suburbs also require serious attention.

The dry season has provided ample opportunity for the state government to work on these roads.

Many of these roads are bound to become even worse once the current dry season is over.

For instance, the Orji Junction-Umuonyeali-

Ogbosisi-Akwakuma Junction road, still begs for attention.

Similarly, the

Poly Junction-Nekede-

Ihiagwa-FUTO road, Orodo-Ogwa road, Mbieri T-junction- Iho-Atta road, among others, need attention.

Nigeria Newspoint urges the present administration in Imo State to expedite action in order to fix these roads and enhance the economic growth and wellbeing of Imolites

The democratically- elected administrations in the local governments  have a serious role to play in this regard. With reported enhanced federal allocations to the local governments, the LGA administrations should embark on massive road maintenance and even minor erosion control.

The South Eeast Development Commission, SEDC, as part of its mandate,

should swing into action by prioritising the issue of roads in the South East.
