I did an Article some time ago where I addressed critical issues Owerri zone must consider as we march forward with greater zeal to realize our ambition to produce the next governor of Imo state. I argued that first and foremost, we must stay focused on the ball with eyes to score the winning goal. To do this, we must avoid distractions from within and outside. While working towards earning the confidence and support of our brothers and sisters in the other two zones, we must make sure that we don’t divide ourselves through unnecessary competitions, blame games and deliberately, setting the fish against the sea in order to prove our love and support for the Owerri governorship project.
Every Owerri zone citizen worth his name must support the quest for us to produce the next governor. Thank God we are supported in this quest by all equity, justice and fair play loving people in the state. The Imo state Council of Elders articulated the noble thought which was endorsed by the state governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma and all critical stakeholders in state. No Owerri zone citizen truly in support of the Charter of Equity will abuse the state governor or act in any suggestive manner. There is therefore no need to hype any communication flows input unnecessary contents into it which will most likely be detrimental to our interest. By the way, it is the first line of duty of government media handlers to respond to any and every comment(s) they consider abusive to the office of the governor and government. It will rather be counter productive for any Owerri based political pressure group to arrogate this duty unto itself. There is absolutely no need making fuss out of or conjuring stories about (why) those who resigned their positions and membership of APC did so. It is wrong also to say what they did not say in their resignation letters. Having resigned their positions and membership, do we still expect them to continue to talk as they were doing while in the party? Certainly not. APC is highly institutionalized in the state and strongly too, so we move.
Our respected leaders should be cautious and conscious of issuing or signing Press Releases. They should note that there are always implicatory responses from and by those who may choose to read them rightly or wrongly. Our younger gladiators should see reasons to be cautious, to wit, there is no gain abusing our leaders.
Owerri zone sons and daughters who can, should be encouraged to promote their governorship ambitions in such a way and manner that the end result is not destroyed. We must work in synergy truthfully, to achieve the governorship position. Internal bickering will weaken and destroy our collective ambition and make mockeries of us in the eyes and hearts of those who do not wish us well. It is important to state that any attack(s) against any of Owerri son or daughter aspiring to the governorship position by any individual or group from Owerri zone is an abominable act against our collective interest. History and our ancestors will be unkind to any Owerri person who sabotages this collective interest.
