In order to sustain peace, cordiality and development in Obile Autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, the youths of the area have urged the people to disregard Comr. Cosmos Opara, who according to them, was on Tuesday February 11, illegally inaugurated as Youth President of Obile by the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Marcel Amadioha.
The youths described the alleged inauguration as illegal , uncalled for and misnomer ,even as they said the act could trigger crisis in the peaceful and Agrarian community.
The Youths made it clear t that Comr. Victor Kelvin Amadi is the authentic Youth President of Obile having been duly elected by the entire community in a free, fair, credible and peaceful election conducted by patriotic, God-fearing, reasonable and development-driven persons chaired by Chief Fidelis Enyia.
They hinted that the Obile Youth President election was held on August 14, 2023 , by Umuoboke General Forum, saying Comr. Amadi was legally declared winner, certified immediately by the electoral body and the Eze with an Oath of Allegiance administered on him and the President General of Obile, Obido Ndubuisi.
They disclosed that because of the Governor’s election on November 11 2023, their inauguration was shifted to April 9 , 2024.
“The election was held on August , 24, 2023, by Umuoboke General Forum. The leaders in Umuoboke village who conducted the election included Chief Candice Opera (Cosmos Opara’s father), High Chief Fidelis Enyia and Chief Jude Opara.
“Because of the Governor’s election on November ,11, 2023, the inauguration was shifted to April , 9, 2024, the PG, Ndubuisi Obido, was selected, while Victor Kelvin Amadi was elected.
“Both Victor and Ndubuisi were legally inaugurated on the same day at Obile Community School”, the youth maintained.
They observed that Cosmos Opara who lost the election to Comr. Amadi, had then publicly accepted defeat, congratulated his rival and swore to abide by the Oath of Allegiance, which they regretted he is now, relegating .
The Youths wondered why the Chairman accepted his request and inaugurated him against the existing Youth executives with Amadi as chairman.
“It is an act of illegality and injustice for the Chairman of Ohaji/ Egbema Council, Hon. Amadioha, to have allegedly inaugurated someone who obviously lost the Obile Youth Presidential election held on August 14 ,2023. Cosmos Opara is said to be the Chairman’s boy. His action may instigate crisis in the peaceful community, if it is not amicably resolved and we say no to imposition of leadership in Obile.
“The LGA Chairman made the announcement on Monday ,February 10, 2025 by 10:14pm and inaugurated them on Tuesday, 11th February 2025 by 8am.
“We call on Amadioha to reverse his inauguration of Cosmos Opara, stop interfering, recognize and work with Kelvin because he is the authentic President of Obile Youth and the entire community is behind him.
The State Government should quickly intervene to arrest the ( dangerous) political issues”, they said.
