The Executive Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Hon. Ambrose Chinedum Nwachukwu, has launched an Immunization Vaccine Routine Program  aimed at enhancing the health status of children and preventing influenza diseases. This program, which kicked off on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Onicha Autonomous Community Health Center, targets children between 0-59 months and breastfeeding mothers .

The program’s goal is to provide essential immunizations to vulnerable populations, aligning with global efforts to increase vaccination coverage. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eliminating diseases, and is considered one of the most cost-effective public health interventions .

Hon. Nwachukwu urged medical practitioners to remain committed to saving lives and pledged his support to refurbish the health center. The staff and medical practitioners expressed gratitude for his commitment to the program, recognizing the importance of healthcare provisions for children and mothers in the area.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen immunization programs and increase vaccine coverage. The WHO recommends routine immunizations for all age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults, to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases .
