ROAD REVOLUTION: NURTW TIPPER BRANCH CHAIR,  RICHARDS PLEDGES ABSOLUTE LOYALTY TO UZODINMA 

…LAUDS  EZE’s EMERGENCE AS STATE CHAIR, EX-CHAIRMEN- BORA, OLOYE ASSURE SUPPORT .

It was rousing homecoming for Comrade Chinedu Richards, the new chairman of Tipper Drivers Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Branch, as a large crowd of members of the branch, trooped out to accord him a heroic reception,as he assumed office.

The carnival like reception which witnessed infectious conviviality, camaraderie, open happiness and numerous solidarity speeches, was held at the Nekede Mechanic Village, Tipper Park Branch Office, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

In his speech, Comrade Chinedu Richards obviously overwhelmed with joy and happiness for the unprecedented show of love and solidarity by his colleagues, which was clear indication of his popularity, acceptance, and emergence through popular will, showered praises on the state Gov. Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma.

He lauded the governor for his giant strides the  provision of enabling environment for members of the association and the national union in general, to carry out their legitimate business, particularly in the area way of  massive road revolution.

Comrade Richards also expressed gratitude to him for his interest in the well welfare, well being tipper drivers and generality of NURTW members,as well as their growth and development, as shown by the recent appointment of Comrade Jeff Eze, who described as a round peg in a round hole, as NURTW State Chairman.

He said tipper drivers in the state under him will continue to remain totally and absolutely  loyal to the governor, as a way appreciating  his love and good works for them, Imo NURTW and the whole state.

Speaking further, he expressed gratitude and loyalty to the new state chairman of NURTW Comrade Eze, for his quick show of love for the branch, with his prompt signing of his appointment letter, as well as making it his first official assignment in his new office.

Comrade Richards also expressed heartfelt thanks to Chief Emeka Okoronkwo Commissioner for Transport, who described as a man of high moral standing; comrades Izuchukwu Okebaram (Bora), Okechukwu Ndubuisi (Oloye), and the entire members of the association for their solidarity and support.

He stressed that his victory was as victory for all, assuring that he will rule with human face, listening ears, and strive to sustain and deepen legacies left behind by his predecessors, while taking the body to greater heights.

He promised to run an inclusive government which will ensure that both NURTW and Tipper Drivers Welfare Association carry out their tasks independently but harmoniously, to guarantee progress, development and continued welfare of drivers, which he noted is the key reason for his leadership, even as he called on members to always come forward with good suggestions that would help him move the body forward, pointing out that he can’t know it all as a human being.

In his solidarity speech, Comrade Okechukwu Ndubuisi (Oloye), promised to throw his full weight behind the Comrade Richards, who he said is the obvious choice of the people.

Also, in his solidarity speech, Comrade Izuchukwu Okebaram (Bora), said Comrade Richards emerged through the popular will of drivers, having emerged through their resolution. He said the drivers  right from the beginning, insisted they would be part of any process that would produce their leadership, noting that Comrade Chinedu Richards  ascension to power complied with that demand.

The former chairman and sitting patron of the branch, former Imo NURTW Chairman expressed thanked Gov Uzodinma for his wise choice of  Comrade Jeff Eze as Imo NURTW Chairman. He said the appointment was another sign that Gov Uzodinma has listening ears, even as he lauded his people oriented leadership, and massive achievements.
