A Billionaire business mogul and Chieftain of the Labour Party ,LP in Imo state, Sir Basil Maduka has sounded a clarion call to all Imo stakeholders to join hands with the incumbent governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma in efforts to achieve overall well-being of the state.
Sir Maduka who hails from Akpodim community of Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo state, while making the clarion call in an exclusive interview with news men, posited that achieving massive, sustainable and positively fruitful development across the state is not a one-man show but, a collective responsibility for all Imo stakeholders.
Maduka, a one-time senatorial aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP and former governorship frontliner under the Labour Party, told news men that with all elections and litigations over, the best thing Imo people of all political parties, pressure groups and religious leanings could do for the state is to embrace, support and encourage the very man on the pilot’s seat, the governor of the state in all efforts to fully realise major life-transforming projects and security in the state.
According to Sir Maduka, what should be uppermost in the mind of every Imo stakeholder, irrespective of political party affiliation, is encouraging Uzodinma, the Chief Executive of the state to complete all infrastructural projects started by his administration and also, execute new ones.
The Philanthropist who majorly, sponsored the 2023 Labour Party governorship and presidential electioneering campaigns in Imo state, bluntly asserted that it would be treacherous and an Irony of fate for any one, no matter how lowly or highly placed, to behave as a stranger in the affairs of the state, expecting those in power to fail in rendering service to the people and thinking to do better in the future for selfish reasons .
” I want to sound it loud and clear that what should be the greatest interest and concern to all of us, is the betterment and overall well-being of Imo state and not one’s political party. This is why Senator Hope Uzodinma needs massive support from all Imolites throughout the remaining three years of his administration. When elections are around the corner, we can play party politics but with elections over, we work together with whoever is in power in the overall interest of the state and society”, this is my take on the realities in Imo state.
Meanwhile, Sir Maduka has given kudos after inspecting Governor Uzodinma’s projects over the ongoing construction of Assumpta Flyover within Owerri capital territory, the ongoing reconstruction of the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road, the ongoing reconstruction of the Imo International Conference Centre now known as Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, the ongoing construction of independent Power Plant in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state, the ongoing reconstruction of Imo Concorde hotel, the dredging of the Oguta Lake/Orashi river for a seaport project, reconstitution of Imo Rural Roads Maintenance Agency (IRROMA) as well as the ongoing rehabilitation of urban roads in the state.when completed will add much value in our state infrastructure.
