…Tackles FG, Sheikh Gumi over call to arm Igbo youths.
…As BIM/MASSOB Call on Trump to Recognise Biafra as Sovereign state
The Directorate of State, DOS of the Indigenous People of Biafra ,IPOB has frowned at a statement by prominent Muslim cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi who is directly instigating efforts to create chaos and destabilize the South-Eastern region of Nigeria.
According to the statement, “Sheikh Gumi, on Tuesday, January 28, proposed that the government should arm Igbo youths to combat IPOB members”. IPOB claims that this statement is part of a broader plot to provoke conflict in the South-East region. The Biafra Freedom movement further pointed to a viral video showing the new Director of the Department of State Services,DSS in Imo State assembling armed youths and instructing them to target IPOB members.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has criticised the Federal Government for not sanctioning a popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi, for saying that the FG should recruit and arm Igbo youths to fight IPOB activities in the South-East.
In a press statement on Friday, the spokesman for the pro-Biafran group, Emma Powerful, described Gumi’s statement as “genocidal,” asserting that the Islamic cleric was not only speaking for himself but also for the Federal Government.
He said, “The great family and movement of IPOB worldwide wish to bring the attention of the international community over the new genocidal plans of the Federal Government against the Biafran nation.
“IPOB is putting the world on notice about the genocidal intent contained in the inciting statements from Sheikh Gumi. Recently, Gumi advised the Federal Government to recruit and arm Igbo youths to fight IPOB and ESN members in Biafra land.
“It is obvious that Gumi is not just speaking for himself. He is the mind of the Federal Government and himself. That is to confirm our stand that the insecurity in the Southeast region is state-sponsored.”
Powerful further alleged that the comments were evidence of the genocidal plans of the Federal Government against Biafrans.
The group further urged the Eastern region, the American Embassy in Abuja, the Russia Embassy in Abuja, the German Embassy in Abuja, the Italian Embassy in Abuja, the Canada Embassy in Abuja, Amnesty International, Intersociety Group, Human Rights Watch, United Nations, AU, and all reputable human rights organisations to take note.
