…Deceiving complaints, false witnesses will face charges, may release Inspector Odidika for want of evidence
The Imo State Police Command under CP Aboki Danjuma is said to have commendably intensified moves to track down the fleeing gunmen who invaded Mgbidi town in the night of January 22, 2025, killed Barr Nwowu Chinedu and kidnapped on Mr. Odika aka(agunaegbuewu) whom they also killed in few hours later and dumped the lifeless body in Anambra State.
Grapevine reveals that the abduction of Mr. Odika and his lifeless body that trended in social media at press time, have been officially reported to the Mgbidi Police Division Oru West LGA by the family without pointing at anybody as a suspect , while on the side of Barr. Nwowu, the Chairman and other members of Umunwasiri kindred in Umuokanumee Ugbele that are still in court over a land matter against the slain Barrister and some others, have surprisingly become the suspects in crime
The petitioners one Mr. Benson Alele and co were said to have informed the police that the lawyers death was masterminded by some of the avillage members in Umunwansiri kindred. They also alleged that the Chairman of the said Umunwansiri kindred, Mr. Odidika personally killed him with a gun. The said Mr. Odidika Augustine is reportedly embattled by Mr Benson because his petition was approved by the Force Headquarters against Mr Benson, Barr Nwowu and others. The approved police order to investigate Mr. Benson over a case of assault occasioning harm, malicious damage, stealing, threat to life, can be seen in Ref No: CB: 700/x/FHQ/ABJ/VOl.636/203. Dated 24th April, 2024.
However, in the desire for justice and righteousness, some grape vines like one Mr. Lazarus Iheanacho from the same Ugbele Community has attested on camera that when the gunmen invaded the area between 7:30 pm, the accused Chairman was sitting inside his
provisions shop with other customers he also mentioned, that equally came to buy some items. “The point is that both Mr. Benson , the late Barr. Nwowu and the accused group in this case, are brothers in the same village but there have been an old land matter that unsettles the group led by the late Barrister” .
It was also gathered that on November 11 , 2024, himself Barr. Nwowu and some of his supporters on the land matters were invited and quizzed by the Mgbidi Police Division over a reported case of forceful entry and unlawful possession of stolen timber woods from the said Umunwasiri land. The case was transferred to the police headquarters when he vehemently refused to obey the police request for him to submit the items to the Division..
Also, In the month of May 2024, some traders in Mgbidi Timber market had issues with the same lawyer for coming to reportedly divert the building matrials meant for their uncompleted shops which they contracted during the tenure of Rochas Okorocha. They angrily stopped him and granted a press interview.
Unconfirmed sources are also reporting that the slain lawyer, had a favourable judgement for his client a day before the ugly incident.
Some security experts from the area who prefer anonymous, have appealed to the police that the complainants in the case of the slain Barrister, like Mr. Ben and other village Exco members under the lawyer, should also be investigated as suspects. They reveal that while he was leading as a Chairman, they were reportedly not giving him the maximum cooperation as a Chairman considering the enormous land assets and other money yielding ventures bestowed to the village which they all envy with the intention to either oust him” And another reason, is that experience has it that man is instinctively unpredictable and unreliable when heinous crimes are committed. “There are references of homicide crimes where the key spornsors quickly ran to complain to police and pinned it on some innocent persons that are in their bad book. ” They do that, to deceive, distract and divert police attention from trapping down the real perpetrators in the crime as to avoid exposing themselves.
“The bible says in Leviticus 24: 21, that if a man takes the life of any human, he shall surely be put to death.”
