As stated in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that Local Government is regarded as the the third tier of government, the Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA, Hon. Victor Orisakwe has sworn in the Secretary to the LGA (Sec log) , Supervisory Councilors and Senior Adviser .
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Owerri West LGA Headquarters on Tuesday, January21, by the Executive Chairman .
Speaking to Journalists after the swearing in rituals, Hon. Ngozi Duru , reiterated her commitment to discharge the new assignment given to her as a Supervisory Councilor to serve Owerri West LGA to ensure that the area is developed .
She said it is a call to service which requires utmost attention and that she would work hard development to save the people from untold hardship .
” I Would not hesitated to move around the LGA to investigate and itemized on the vital requirements of the rural dwellers and present them before the Executive Council for immediate and proper execution to revitalized and also to enhance development in the area.
As part of the principal officers, it’s paramount to make the environment conducive,by making the roads motorable for people to experience smooth movement in their daily businesses .
She made it clear that achieving all of these would go a long way to reduce insecurity, kidnapping and other ugly happenings we are facing at this present time, it would also attract more development .
“I would be dedicated to my new appointment in order to leave an outstanding achievement and leave remarkable legacy to better their livelihood.
It must be remembered that once the people are happy, you as the leader would also be in peace” .
In his address after inaugurating the Principal officers, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Orisakwe , pointed out that swearing in the principal officers as required by the Constitution has solidified the proof that the appropriate machineries have been set up for more effective work in the LGA in order to render dividends of democracy to the people.
He also said that the newly inaugurated Sec Log, Supervisory Councilors and SA would add more value to the activities of the Council.
” I’m satisfied with the Principal Officers because they are sound and quality people that would use the wealth of their experience to enhance progress of the LGA, it’s on record that they would make difference in terms of performance on the projects that would make positive impacts on the lives of the indigenes”.
Hon. Orisakwe also highlighted that there are on-going projects on ground in the Council, ranging from: grading of roads, rehabilitation of the chapel and roofing of the secretariat building, these are to make provisions for the staff to work. He also promised to run an open door policy and transparent administration, adding that Owerri West would be a role model for others to emulate.
The Executive Chairman, urged them to work in synergy with the staff of the council to achieve the widely expectations by the masses .
He expressed his gratitude and appreciate to the traditional rulers, members of the party, leaders of Owerri West, Legislators and workers of the Council for making the ceremony achievable.
