The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, His Grace, Most Rev Lucious Ugorji has urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to spend more time in Imo and serve the state as he celebrates his 5th year in office as governor.
Archbishop Ugorji who congratulated Uzodinma on the First Anniversary of his second term in office as Imo governor, said as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri and spiritual father of catholics in Imo and Abia, it was important to draw the attention of the governor to the sacredness of the solemn oath of office he took “before God and the public” during his swearing-in ceremony for a second term in office in January 2024.
He reminded the Governor of the oath he took to “serve the state with utmost diligence, commitment and fidelity,” adding that the governor should not abandon Imo citizens to their fate.
“We thank God today for protecting Your Excellency and the state, in the past one year. We wish you more happy and fulfilling years ahead.
“We take advantage of this opportunity to respectfully inform Your Excellency that Imolites missed you so much, in the state last year.
“They earnestly long for your full and undivided attention, as the father of the state, especially at this very difficult time in the history of our nation.
“Please, do not abandon them to their fate.
It is my duty as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri and the spiritual father of Catholics in Imo and Abia States, to draw your attention to the sacredness of the solemn oath of office you took before God and the public, during your swearing in ceremony on January 8, 2024, to serve the state with utmost diligence, commitment and fidelity.
“We pray and hope that we shall feel more of your presence and impact in the state, during your second year in office.
“No state can truly progress, if its leader is not fully present to direct its affairs on a daily basis.”
