The Senator Orji Uzor Kalu led Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Regional Development Commissions, has screened and confirmed Dr Clifford Ogbede,as Executive Director Agriculture Rural Development and Natural Resources in the South East Development Commission,SEDC.
With this heartwarming development, Dr Ogbede has successfully scaled all the constitutional and institutional checks necessary for his assumption of office as substantive Executive Director,in the SEDC as prescribed by the law.
Screened alongside him were the 17 other nominees for the SEDC, led by Emeka Nworgu (Chairman) and Mark Okoye (Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer).
Others are: Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, Hyacinth Ikpor, Chidi Echeazu, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Hamma Kumo, Edward Onoja, Orure Inima, Daniel Akwari and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
Also, Stanley Ohajuruka was screened as Executive Director, Finance; Sylvester Okonkwo, Executive Director, Corporate Services; Toby Okechukwu, Executive Director, Projects; and Anthony Agbo, Executive Director, Commercial and Industrial Development.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had nominated and forwarded the name of Dr Ogbede and other nominees to the Senate, on December 6, 2024, after he assented to the bill establishing the commission earlier in July of the same year. That action transformed SEDC into a legally established and empowered entity, charged with the responsibility to accelerate the development of South East region of the country.
