The Association of Igbo Town Unions, ASITU, has sent a heart worm congratulatory message to the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World-wide, Sen. John Azuta-Mbata, on his successful emergence at Enugu State recently.
The National President of ASITU, Chief Emeka Diwe, who personally signed the release said that the emergence of Sen. John Azuta-Mbata as the leader of the apex socio-cultural organization in Igbo land is apt and proper, noting that the former senator has garnered the requisite pedigree, patriotic zeal, national and international acceptability.
He called on the new President-General and his executive to improve on the broad policy spectrum of the immediate past P-Gs and ensure that the constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo serves as the grand norm and guilding principle in all the activities of the organization.
Chief Diwe particularly noted the need for the new President-General and his team to bring all dissenting voices and indeed various factions and groups in Igbo land to a unified whole. This, according to the Igbo leader, should be a major responsibility of the new Ohanaeze leadership.
He said that the association of Igbo Town Unions, will as always, bring its ubiquitous grassroots presence to support Ohanaeze Ndigbo in its programs.
The congratulatory message also hailed the emergence of
Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia State as the National Deputy President and Chief Emeka Sibeidu from Anambra State for emerging as Secretary-General.
ASITU also congratulated Chidera Anieke of Enugu State for clinching the position of National Treasury of Ohanaeze and Ezechukwu Ezechi from Imo State who emerged the Publicity Secretary of Socio-cultural organization while Okey Ugwu from Ebonyi was elected the National Legal Adviser.
