Reports of the rising spate of organ harvesting, trafficking and kidnapping
in Nigeria have been making headlines ,recently.
The evil of butchering human beings like animals for the despicable purpose of selling their organs like kidneys, liver, heart, private parts, among others, appears to be a fallout of incessant cases of kidnapping and banditry across the nation.
There are emerging indications that kidnappers and bandits sometimes resort to this Satan- inspired trade when victims cannot meet their ransom demands. For them, it is a way of ensuring that they don’t ‘lose out’ entirely.
However, other reports seem to indicate that those involved in the barbaric act, allegedly collude with some of those in need of these human organs for medical reasons.
Reported revelations from kidnap victims who luckily escaped being butchered by kidnappers and bandits, are indeed terrifying.
The situation is even more horrifying considering reports that those savages involved in the act usually hijack vehicles on transit, and force the passengers into the forests where they are eventually slaughtered like animals.
We urge
governments at all levels including security agents to double their efforts in tackling this heinous crime.
It is important that security is further beefed up on the highways. State and local governments should support communities with whatever it takes to set up effective vigilant groups and even partner with legitimate hunters to comb the forest frequently.
Ministries of transport should properly register commercial drivers operating in states including the necessary biometric capturing.
Motor parks should also be well organized to avoid criminals masquerading as bus or commercial drivers from having field day.
More importantly, the use of high calibre surveillance drones to scan the forests quite often, will help smoke out these devil’s from their hideouts in the forests.
Citizens’ vigilance is key in this regard. Citizens’ should report suspicious activities to security agencies for action.
