Dry Season  Is Here ,Time For  Uzodinma To Attend To Imo  Rural Roads .

It leaves no one in doubt that Imo roads need urgent attention from the state government.

Generally speaking, road Infrastructure is germane to the socio-economic development of any state. Good roads have been found to be a critical element in ease of doing business, aside boosting tourism.

In all fairness,  the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma has undertaken the construction of some major highways atleast to appreciable standards, much still needs to be done not only within the cities and suburbs, but in the rural communities.

Some strategic roads  in the state such as the  Nekede-Ihiagwa-FUTO road road, the Hardel Junction- Mbieri Timber market- Akwakuma road, Control Post-World  Bank road,  among others, require immediate attention.

Some of the roads have or are about to cut into two as in the case of Orji-Hardel Junction-Akwakuma road, Orlu-Akokwa road, among others.

the Imo State Government through the Commissioner for Works, Ralph Nwosu, had during a briefing with newsmen in the state, a few months ago, assured the commence of work on roads as soon as the rains subside. it is important to reiterate the need for the Uzodinma-led administration in  Imo to see expedite action towards fixing most of these roads now that the dry season has fully set in.

We urge the   democratically elected governments at the LGA level to also prioritise  the issue of maintenance  of rural roads in their domain.

if something tangible is not done to fix many of these Imo roads during the dry season that has fully taken off, the roads may become impassable by the time the next rainy season sets in 2025.

Such a situation potends  negative impact on socio-economic activities of the state.
