Hardship Triggers Low Christmas:Imo Govt Tasked To ReJig Economy.

Feelers from around the state indicate that imolites are bracing up for what seems to be a likely low Christmas celebration this month.

There are emerging Indications that traders and marketers may have been experiencing low business due mainly  to what many attribute to escalating hardship in the country, and Imo in particular.

There have been expectations amid calls for the Imo State Government of Governor Hope Uzodinma to shore up the state’s economy via policies, at least to cushion the effects of the prevailing situation.

The Imo situation appears to be worsened by the reported cases of insecurity in the state; although the situation  may not to be  different from that of other states in the Southeast.

Ever-rising transport costs triggered by outrageous hike in fuel price, have led to escalating cost of goods and services to the detriment of the masses.

Ordinarily, and in view of  what obtains presently, there ought to have been policies to counter the devastating effects of the harsh economic realities, but this may be a topic for another day.

As this year’s Christmas celebration remains a matter of days, and considering the seeming lull in economic activities, we urge the state government under Governor Uzodinma to go the extra mile by adopting deliberate, people-oriented policies

in order to vitiate the hardship and suffering of the citizens; to prioritise job creation, industrialisation and agricultural development as well as civil servants welfare in the bid to shore up the state’s economy.
