A federal legislator has emerged as a vocal advocate for ethical political conduct, challenging recent legislative maneuvers while invoking the principles of party unity and democratic integrity.
Imo Ikenga Ugochinyere, speaking on an interview on Symfoni TV from 8:01, offered a nuanced critique of recent political developments, directly appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s historical commitment to party principles.
“Do you think that if you (27 Lawmakers) join Mr. President’s (Tinubu) party, the president will encourage you to be doing illegality?” Ugochinyere challenged, rhetorically highlighting the expectation of principled conduct.
The lawmaker drew attention to the President’s political legacy, referencing his time in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). “A president that believes in party democracy and in party strength, who fought in line with ensuring that lawmakers do not decamp,” Ugochinyere emphasized, underlining a consistent approach to political loyalty.
Concluding his statement with a call for institutional integrity, he declared, “This judgment is welcomed, and we
urge the judiciary to continue to remain firm and steadfast.”
