In a bid to ensure adequate safety of staff, students and educational equipments of their Alma mater, the Old Boys of Trinity High School Oguta LGA in Imo state have begun perimetre fencing within the school premises as part of their duty in preserving the glory of the School.
Speaking with our reporter during the ground breaking ceremony which will herald the commencement of the fencing, the Vice President of the Old Boys Association,Sir Tony Nwosu informed that there is the need for the fencing, to safeguard academic properties of the school from being tampered with by miscreants who always invade the school premises.
He said that the Old Boys, before now have been offering assistance and other services to the school mostly, in the areas of infrastructure development and academic learning materials to aid in the learning process of the Students.
Nwosu however regretted that efforts made by the association in assisting its Alma mater in enhancing smooth running of its academic calendar seems to be discouraged by activities of miscreants who always invaded the school premises for stealing purposes.
” Our members are ready to assist the school in any way they can, but miscreants are trying to sabotage our efforts, hence the decision to have a perimetre fencing that will see to the safety of the school premises.
We will never relent in assisting the school to uphold its glory”, he said.
The Vice President narrated that the school have produced prominent individuals, serving humanity all over the globe and maintained that it is only wise that the dignity of the school must be protected at all cost.
Speaking also, the immediate past President , Surveyors Council of Nigeria , Clement Nwabuchie one of the leading figures of the association, explained that the association was moved by the porous nature of the school which prompted the move to fence the entire premises.
He commended the efforts of the president of the association, Godswill Achilike who ensured that the project was actualized.
Nwabuchie maintained that the fencing ,no doubt will go a long way in providing adequate safety of the school environment and proper safety of academic equipments.
The Principal of the school, Kevin Chinedu Azugo said that he was delighted witnessing the project taking off ,maintaining that the project, if completed will put to an end the issue of theft in the school.
He expressed gratitude to the gesture made by the association as he assured that the management and students of the school will see to the proper safety of every structure given to the school.
The highlight of the event was the foundation laying ceremony by the Old Boys which was witnessed by staff and students of the school who came out in their numbers for the event.
