Inauguration of Ohaji Women Congress:  Eze Odunze calls for its sustenance

The traditional ruler, Obiti autonomous community, Ohaji/Egbema local government area HRH Eze Emmanuel Odunze has solicited for the sustenance of the Ohaji Women Congress.

Eze Odunze who is also, the secretary/ Ohaji/Egbema council of traditional rulers made the call on the occasion of the Inauguration of Ohaji Women Congress held at Ohaji district headquarters, Umuokanne, Ohaji/Egbema local government area.

The traditional ruler who described the event as a welcome development, a step in the right direction stated, that the women have come out to add their own quota to the development of the  community hence, the birth of the inauguration

The Royal father however reiterated that  the essence of the association which  is to foster peace, unity as well as development in the community advised the women, that having inaugurated the congress, should ensure that it stands the test of time.

He further emphasised that it is not easy to start a project of this nature, enjoined the women to continue in one mind support and corporate with one another equally, enjoined the executives to carry the members along in the scheme of things.

The traditional ruler however noted, that the association which is not a non partisan but rather a group of women with like minds that have come to make impact, rewrite the history of Ohaji, bring positive change and most importantly  ensure that the congress sees the light of the day, as well as, actualize the objectives of its inception .

In his address, the chairperson ,Ohaji Women Congress, Barr Chioma Anyanwu stated that the event marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey, one that will shape the future of the women, empower their voices that have too long be silenced as well as liberate Ohaji women from confines of outdated norms and system.

Barr Anyanwu further posited, that Ohaji women Congress which are both born and married in Ohaji are beautifully created, strong and have great untapped potentials, contributed greatly and also,  have been the back bone in  the development and growth of food production in Imo State.

She thereby maintained that it is obvious that they, the women will not achieve the above desires in development of Ohaji nation without the collective support and synergy of other stakeholders in Ohaji, the traditional rulers, political leaders with love and unity of purpose.

Highlight of the occasion was the cutting of inauguration cake by the OWC members, sons and daughters of the area as well as some dignitaries that graced the occasion.
