According to the report from the Sun, National Coordinator, Take Back Nigeria Initiative (TBNI), Abumchukwu N. Okoye
expressed his belief that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of
the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was not detained by Northern Nigeria, but rather by a small group of influential individuals. He referred to this group as the “special cabal.”
Okoye suggested that President Tinubu’s pursuit of a second term may prevent him from taking desired actions, implying that this special cabal may continue to influence the government.
Furthermore, he highlighted the political collaboration between the North and South-Western regions, emphasizing the presence
of permanent interests in politics and disputing the
notion that Kanu’s detention is solely a result of Northern Nigeria’s actions.
According to Abumchukwu Okoye, “I must confess that I don’t believe that the North put Nnamdi Kanu in detention. Nnamdi Kanu was detained by special cabal and I’m very sure about that. Yes, Tinubu may not implement most things we expected from him because he is seeking a second term. And those who are behind Kanu’s detention are using every avenue to continue this incarceration of Kanu and they are few in number. Look at the way Northern and South-Western regions are collaborating. In politics, there is a permanent interest, hence you can’t say the North detained Nnamdi Kanu.”
