An illustrious son of Imo State who doubles as President of Owerri Sports Club, Comrade Uchenna Nwokeji has emerged as National Treasurer of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU.
In a keenly contested election held yesterday in Abuja, Nwokeji won his opponent by pulling 617 against 311.
His emergence has been described by many as a reward for hard work, particularly in view of his selfless service to the Federal University of Technology, FUTO, where he served in various capacities before he emerged as National Treasurer.
Nwokeji is currently the Chairman of SSANU, FUTO chapter.
Responding to his victory, Nwokeji thanked every member who supported him and the Imo people for their solidarity during the contest, adding that the election is one without a loser as everyone will be carried along in moving the Union forward.
