Ex-Imo Commissioner- Ihekweme Flays Uzodinma For Allegedly Renovating Concorde Hotel with Whooping N18.5bn.

…Says: No advert for tenders, bidding

A former commissioner in Imo state, Dr Fabian Ihekweme has alleged that the  Governor,Sen.

Hope Uzodinma has  awarded contract for the renovation of the five  star Concorde Hotel Owerri, at a whooping sum of N18.5 billion without advertising the project for tenders or bidding.

It will be recalled that the former commissioner  Ihekweme has  been lashing calling out the  the Uzodinma administration through  articles on various  media and social platforms alleging  lack of good governance in the state

This  development  has attracted counter media  attacks from aides and media handlers of the governor.

Ihekweme cried out at  that the alleged huge sum of N18.5 billion which he alleged, was earmarked for the renovation of Concorde  Owerri, was good enough to build two new hotels of Concorde standard.

The former Commissioner  wondered  why such huge amount of money should be spent on  renovation Alone when the state is under dire economic stress that it can’t pay the Minimum wage of N70,000 to Imo state Civil servants.

“Governor Uzodinma  awards contract for the renovation of Concorde Hotel Owerri at a whooping sum of N18.5 billion.

Accord to him, “It is important to note also that there was no advert, no bidding and no tenders before the award… This is the true position of Concorde hotel today. This staggering amount is enough to build at least two new Concorde hotels but the Governor is using the same amount to renovate the hotel. I pity the next governor of Imo State,”he moaned.

It will also be recalled that the five-star Concorde Hotel Owerri was built by the administration of then Governor Sam Onunaka  Mbakwe of old Imo State, and  has since remained a major landmark as well as a name to reckon with in the hospitality industry in  Imo and the entire South-East.
