…Refutes Death rumours,as mere falsehood
A report by Punch Newspaper revealed that Ebere Nzeworji, an aide to former Imo State Governor and Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has dismissed rumors of his principal’s death, assuring the public that Okorocha is in good health. Nzeworji, in a statement from Abuja on Thursday, clarified that recent social media messages circulating since Wednesday evening about Okorocha’s alleged death in a London hospital are entirely false.
Nzeworji provided specific details to refute these claims, noting that Okorocha was actually seen at his Unity House office in Abuja around the same time these rumors began to spread. Furthermore, the former governor had just returned from Owerri, Imo State, where he attended the funeral of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman, on November 1. Following the funeral, Okorocha reportedly hosted Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and other lawmakers at his residence in Owerri, reinforcing the falsity of these rumors.
In his statement, Nzeworji questioned the motives behind the spread of such misleading information, suggesting that those responsible may have ulterior motives aimed at tarnishing Okorocha’s reputation. Describing Okorocha as a patriotic figure with significant contributions at both the state and national levels, Nzeworji urged the public to disregard the fake news, noting that Okorocha is a compassionate leader who cares about the welfare of others. He called on Nigerians to trust that Senator Rochas Okorocha remains “hale and hearty.”
