…Says: Govt lacks will to restore sanity.
Piqued by the excruciating hunger, poverty, and anguish bedeviling the people, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu(Samdaddy ) has described the APC administration in Imo State as being insensitive and harsh to the masses.
The former Senator for Owerri Zone added that the way government is operating is an indication that the APC administration has been overwhelmed.
Anyanwu regrets that the government in the state is operating without a blue print and does not see the people as priority, urging the APC government to expedite action aimed at solving the problems as respite to avoid any breakdown of law and order.
“The APC administration in the state lacks the will to restore sanity; the government appears unwilling to offer good governance to the people”,he posited.
“This is evident in its sheer negligence of the plight of the masses, unable to guarantee social order, deliberately heightening tension and working against the interest of the citizens”.
As a result of government’s inexperience and inability to pay civil servants and pensioners, he noted that Imo people who served the state diligently are reportedly dying in droves.
The government is not only advancing and promoting selfishness, nepotism and gangsterism, but pays less attention to the needs and desires of the masses. A government that is accused of promoting hatred and division can neither curb insecurity nor guarantee safety. This is the major reason the state is facing serious economic, social and political challenges.
It is noteworthy that in the history of Imo state, this is the worst and most corrupt administration that has ever existed. Currently in Imo state, a select government’s appointees are lavishly cruising lives with supposed proceeds of corruption, while the unfortunate ones and Imo people at large are languishing and struggling to eat, once in a day.
“The questions are; what effort has the APC administration in the state made to dialogue with Petroleum Marketers to fix a price that will be moderate for the citizens? The truth of the matter is that a government that is accused of reckless spending of Imo money on Private Jets and other frivolous projects that pose threat to the state’s economy cannot be firm to confront these absurdities”,he said.
Regrettably, he moaned, instead of the government to deliver dividends of democracy to the people, the APC administration is busy increasing tax and imposing outrageous levies on commercial vehicle and motorcycle operators.
According to him,this is the height of wickedness and disservice to the people.
Senator Anyanwu, who is the candidate of PDP in the November 2023 Governorship election in the state and currently, National Secretary of PDP further enjoined Imo people to remain calm, law abiding and steadfast in the face of provocation, expressing hope that the situation may be contained if the government in power can be financially decent and prudent in spending.
