I can’t just imagine how far and the extent some people would go to fabricate stories to tarnish other people’s image all in the name of politics.
Ohaneze Ndigbo is the general and unique umbrella that unites igbos worldwide and as such should not be dragged into the murky waters of Imo politics.
Unlike Imo State that have not embraced or accepted the doctrine of Fairness, Equity and Justice which they call IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY, Ohaneze national leadership is very well organized, spelt out and infact rotated among all the igbo speaking states including Rivers and Delta states.
So for anybody to wake up and craft such a dummy that suggests that the turn of Imo State to produce Ohaneze Presidency would be elongated or extended is to say the least DAYDREAMING!
Ordinarily, one ought not to have responded to this anger provoking and perishable thoughts of idle minds but for the sake of the Not Well Informed and the Gullibles among us it becomes necessary to put the records straight especially as an insider.
Unfortunately ,these Idle people for whatever reason (s) chose Governor Ikedi Godson Ohakim who not only have worked(still working )tirelessly for Ohaneze but has remained the Unbeatable Governor in terms of financial records that showed support/contributions to Ohaneze while in office in 2007-2011.
When it became the turn of Ndimo to produce the PG of Ohaneze at the end of the tenure of Chief Nnia Nwodo, many prominent and qualified sons of Imo state indicated their interest for the position especially Dr. Joe Nworgu(former Secretary General of Ohaneze worldwide)and Chief Chris Asoluka(former President of Akaikenga, who had served in various sub committees of Ohaneze)amongst other eminent Imo sons .
As at that time, majority of ndigbo especially Ohaneze diaspora chapters preferred either Dr. Joe Nworgu or Chief Asoluka (Okwuruoha) but the Governor, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodinma has already made up his mind for His Excellency late ,Prof. George Obiozor to take up the position on behalf of Ndimo.
It was Governor Ohakim with the approval of Governor Uzodinma that persuaded and pacified the two most preferred choices named above to step down for Prof. Obiozor because of his age, international exposures and contacts.
Yours sincerely was actively involved campaigning for both Dr. Nworgu and Asoluka, hoping that one of them would step down for the other since both of them are all from Owerri and very close to me.
Governors Uzodinma and Ohakim’s intervention paved the way for Prof. Obiozor’s emergence as the PG of Ohaneze.
Shortly after the election of Prof. Obiozor as the PG of Ohaneze and as a result of some procedural abnormalities in that election, Engr. Chidi Ibe(former commissioner under Sen. Rochas)and Barr. Uche Okwukwu(Secretary General of Ohaneze under Chief Nwodo) held a parallel election and this factionalization almost rubbished Prof. Obiozor’s tenure if not for the intervention of Chief Ikedi Ohakim.
Even after about two different meetings at Douglas House Owerri during which the Governor, Sen. Uzodinma pleaded with Engr . Ibe and his faction including the interventions of prominent Bishops and Clergymen from the South-Eastern states failed to pacify the Engr. Chidi Ibe led faction, it was Chief Ikedi Ohakim on his own that took them to court and the rest is now history.
Again, after the painful and unfortunate demise of Prof. George Obiozor, it was still this same Governor Ohakim that ensured Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu had no opposition after Governor Uzodinma indicated his interest in his nomination even when a very prominent and highly respected Democrat from Arondizuogu was projected and touted as a replacement to Prof. Obiozor.
So, why would Chief Ohakim be pushing for others if he has interest in that position?
In any case, every objective political analyst in Imo state understands the game of these jobbers!
This was the same style or rather modus operandi of falsehood and propaganda they employed against Chief Ohakim as then governor in 2011 but then Ndimo are now wiser.
Not too long ago Rev.Father EJike Mbaka has confessed and apologized of their deeds yet these questionable characters appear to be unrepentant.
For the records, i will not hesitate to say that it is the turn of Rivers State to produce the next PG of Ohaneze, next February/March 2025 and nobody can scheme them out !
We are aware of the mischievous plan of some self centered individuals to deprive Rivers state of their right to Ohaneze leadership with the flimsy excuse that some misguided elements in Rivers had “denounced” their Igbo identity.
For all the Progressives in Ohaneze, we are insisting that even if it is only one community in Rivers State that accepts their Igbo Identity, that community or village MUST be allowed next year, to produce the PG OF OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE .
It is Only after Rivers state has had their turn that it can then go to Abia state.
So, those people from Abia state colluding with disgruntled political elements from Imo state who want to rubbish or tarnish Ohakim’s image against 2027 should begin now to look for something else to do because Ndimo are now wiser.
Ohakim, despite the betrayals he had suffered so far has remained the Only Visible former Governor that has been consistent in Supporting ,Advising and Encouraging successive Governments in Imo State.
By God’s Grace,he will certainly have a date with posterity in 2027 as Ndimo awaits for his second coming.
