Imolites To LGA Chairmen, Councillors, Work For Your  People Or Prepared To Go To Jail.

“EFCC will come after you”

… Insist: LGAs, in dire need of development .

There are growing calls from many Imo citizens admonishing the newly inaugurated Local Government chairmen and Councillors to use their offices to work for the socio-economic uplift of their various communities.

Imo citizens who participated in various interactive programmes on Radio, highlighted the imperative for the Local Government chairmen and councillors to utilise their improved federal allocations to turn around the rural communities within their domains.

Some of the callers on Radio wondered why most of the communities in the various LGAs should remain so underdeveloped, without good roads or portable water despite the huge amount that accrues to the LGAs.

They reminded the executive chairmen and councillors in the 27 LGAs of the state, of the need to use  the opportunity provided by the Supreme Court judgement which ordered that all allocations to LGAs in Nigeria be remitted directly to the account of the Local Governments, to work for the good of the people of their areas.

Imolites hinted that there would be no hiding place for LGA chairmen who compromise the autonomy or finances of the councils for any reasons, even as they vowed to draw the attention of the country’s anti-graft agencies such as the EFCC and the ICPC.

The callers decried alleged moves by some state governments to use the Houses of Assembly of their states to compromise LGAs’ autonomy.

They warned of the possibility of incurring the peoples’ wrath if state governors continue to interfere with the LGA
