…Emerges state champion
Emmanuela Ngozi Kalu of Umuonyeali Community Secondary School, Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, has emerged Imo State champion in the 10th Edition of the Martina Teacher-of-the-Year Competition.
Kalu who teaches Catering Craft at Umuonyeali Community Secondary School, Mbieri, emerged the overall champion among the teachers from Imo State.
The competition which was in honour of Felix Ohiwerei took place at Victoria Island, Lagos, last week Friday, October 11. It brought together about 1,470 teachers from different states of the federation.
The winners
were selected on the basis of some criteria which include, classroom management, application of new technology in delivery,
Teacher- student relationship innovativeness, among others.
Prizes to winners ranged from N10 million for the national champion including one year study abroad, and a capacity facility in the school.
The first and second runners up at the national level were to smile home with N3 million and N2.5 million respectively. They came from Ogun and Akwa Ibom states respectively.
Other state champions got N1 million each.
The organisers the competition, NBC, partnered corporate bodies such as Union Bank Plc, First City Monument Bank Plc, among others.
