The ruling All Progressives Congress,APC is said to be facing more troubles in Imo state following Governor Hope Uzodinma’s directive that only Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants with payment receipts will be refunded. A decision the Forum of APC Chairmanship and Councillorship Aspirants in Imo state have vehemently rejected for lack of merit and coherence but rather insisting that the right things be done.
It was gathered that Governor Uzodinma, on Sunday while addressing church members at Government House chapel, Owerri capital of the state insisted that any money without proof of payment receipt will not be refunded except those used in purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms respectively.
Speaking to some Journalists in Owerri on Sunday, spokesperson of Forum of APC Chairmanship and Councillorship Aspirants in Imo state, Barr Lucky Ikwubuo (Onye Eze) rejected the condition, adding that money extorted from them by the leadership of APC in the state and LGA levels without issuance of receipt was much more than those ones receipt was issued for particularly by Dr. Macdonald Ebere and Deputy Chief of Staff his brother.
According to him, Uzodinma has reportedly betrayed the trust APC members and his close friends and allies reposed in him by tampering with the zoning arrangements at the ward and LGA levels, maintaining that the Governor should allow the input made by stakeholders in various areas which obviously standardized and restored earlier truncated zoning arrangement at the grassroot.
“The action of Governor Uzodinma is a disrespect to everyone and APC leaders in the LGAs who carefully looked into the zoning arrangement prior to the purpoted primary election and insisted that justice and fairness played out as he promised the aspirants and Imo people.
According to him,”if Uzodinma could openly sabotage this conflict resolution mechanism, how then should Imo people trust him on his promise to adopt the Charter of Equity in producing his successor or is a deceit or perhaps weaving ill-will against himself and creating opportunity for Imolites to reject his prefered candidate from Owerri Zone and position another Orlu man to become Governor in 2027 making it 28 or 32 years?”
Barr Ikwubuo while expressing regret said that his members would continue to utilize all necessary legal avenues to defend the constitution of APC, stating that the non compliance to the electoral guidelines in selecting the purpoted party candidates must be corrected to serve as deterrent to future process.
The Lawyer disclosed that the Forum had forwarded its petition to the EFCC and ICPC respectively to investigate the fraud allegedly committed by Governor Uzodinma’ brother and the party Chairman in the state, Macdonald Ebere, while their court action was entertained , yesterday,Tuesday, September 17.
