The House of Representatives member for  Mbaitoli/Ikeduru,Mbaike  Federal Constituency, Hon Akarachi Amadi  last weekend, Saturday , September 14,,made a significant impact on  the lives  of his constituents  by distributing over eight hundred (800) bags of Fertilizer to the 63 communities in Mbaike.

A release by  his Head of Media Communications,Hon Irobi Darlington notes that the  distribution took place at his Constituency Office Complex, located at KM 4 on Owerri-Okigwe Road. The event was a reflection of Akarachi Amadi’s dedication to promoting agricultural development and ensuring food security within his constituency.

The lawmaker stated that the decision to provide Fertilizer to the communities was aimed at boosting farm produce and ensuring food availability throughout the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru,Mbaike  region.

Akarachi explained  that he recognises the critical role that agriculture plays in the lives of his constituents, and this gesture was warmly received by the beneficiaries, who appreciated his forward-thinking approach to addressing food insecurity.

The Women President Generals from each of the 63 communities were present at the event to receive the bags of Fertilizer.

In addition to the Fertilizer, each woman leader was given N25,000 to cover transportation costs, ensuring that the Fertilizer could be easily delivered to their respective communities.

The women  leaders hailed the thoughtful addition with gratitude, as it alleviated any concerns about the logistical challenges of transporting the materials.

The event was marked by an atmosphere of joy and appreciation.

Many of the constituents expressed their admiration for Hon. Akarachi’s efforts to prioritize agriculture and alleviate the pressures of food scarcity. His actions resonated particularly with the women, who play a pivotal role in farming and food production in the various  rural areas of Mbaike.

Addressing them , Hon. Akarachi  emphasized the importance of agriculture in the economic development of the constituency. He noted that with the right support, Mbaitoli and Ikeduru could become major agricultural hubs in Imo State.

He harped  on his vision for the constituency which  is for the  farmers to have access to the necessary resources to produce at higher levels, ultimately leading to improved living standards in the area.

In addition to the Fertilizer distribution, Hon. Akarachi made another groundbreaking announcement. He pledged a yearly sum of 63 million Naira as a Social Welfare Fund for indigent constituents. This fund is intended to provide financial support to the less privileged members of the constituency, ensuring that they are not left behind in the development process. The Social Welfare Fund was seen as a bold step toward addressing poverty and inequality in Mbaike.

The N63 million fund will be allocated across the 63 communities, ensuring that every part of the constituency benefits from this initiative.

Hon. Akarachi explained that the fund would be managed transparently, with clear criteria for beneficiaries to ensure that it reaches those who need it the most.

He also gave attention to the prevailing high cost of  Transportation,saying it is a critical issue that needs to be  addressed.

 

In the light of this, he unveiled plans for a good transport scheme that would ease transportation pressures within the constituency, especially now that fuel pump price is out of range.

According to the release,under this scheme,his  constituents would have access to transportation services at a subsidized rate, making it more affordable for people to move goods and travel for work or business.

The  Lawmaker’s subsidized transport scheme was equally welcomed by the people, especially traders and farmers who often face challenges, transporting their goods to markets.

Akarachi disclosed that this commitment to making transportation more accessible is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the local economy, as it will reduce costs for small business owners and farmers alike.

He also spoke about his broader vision for development in Mbaitoli and Ikeduru, reiterating  his commitment to improving the infrastructure, education, and healthcare systems in the constituency.

The release also states that his plans  include building better roads, upgrading schools, and providing more healthcare facilities to ensure that every constituent has access to essential services.

The Fertilizer distribution and the accompanying announcements have  been said to be clear indicators of Akarachi’s  hands-on approach to governance.

It will be recalled that since assuming office, he has focused on delivering tangible benefits to his people, and his present actions  were a continuation of that commitment.

Constituents left the event feeling hopeful about the future. Many praised the Lawmaker  for his proactive and people-oriented leadership style, which has brought significant improvements to the constituency.
