Ahead of the September 21 Local Government elections in Imo state, Chief Iheanacho Calistus Korieocha, a chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC for Ihite-Uboma LGA , has pledged to tackle insecurity and reduce hardship in the area.
Speaking in an interview, korieocha , a grassroots politician, expressed concern over the alarming rate of insecurity, which has forced residents to stay indoors from 7pm.
He attributed his decision to contest the election to the need for effective leadership that can address the challenges facing the area.
To address the pressing needs of the people, Korieocha said: “We have identified key areas that require urgent attention, including insecurity, poor infrastructure and lack of economic opportunities.
“Our team has developed a comprehensive plan to tackle these challenges head-on and restore the dignity of our people,” he stressed.
He highlighted some of the key solutions his administration would implement, including: strengthening security measures to ensure the safety of lives and property, and rehabilitating and constructing new roads to facilitate easy movement and transportation.
The chairmanship hopeful also plans to establish Skill Acquisition centers to empower youths and women, revitalize the agricultural sector to boost food production and economic growth, as well as upgrade healthcare facilities to provide quality medical services to the people.
The aspirant further promised to resuscitate the Uboma Fish Pond and the Anumekwe Abattoir for a more viable food security of the area.
Korieocha, a former councilor, assured the people of Ihite Uboma LGA that his administration would be transparent, accountable, and responsive to their needs.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that the resources of our local government are utilized efficiently and effectively for the benefit of all,” he promised.
He emphasized the need for peace, saying, “without peace, there cannot be meaningful development.”
Regarding the party’s decision to adopt consensus in selecting candidates, korieocha welcomed the move, expressing confidence that he would emerge as the party’s candidate.
He, however, stated that he would respect the party’s decision.
