“Conscience , Equity Beauty of democracy”
Hon. Chikezie Nwadike has commended the Political Leaders from Mbaitoli LGA for coming to a compromise by developing a template that portrays an equal sense of belonging driven by fairness and justice for the political positions in the LGA.
Speaking to our international correspondent, Hon. Nwadike described the move as a healthy one in the right direction, calling on other LGAs in Imo State to emulate them.
Speaking further, Hon. Nwadike noted that with such development, people’s appetites will be guided.
He described it as undemocratic, Politically unholy, and an act devoid of conscience, the situation where a particular bloc always desire to have every opportunity to their side.
“This should be condemned in its entirety as it represents archaic practice”, he added.
He went further to emphasize that democracy guarantees equity, fairness and justice. Anything short of these conditions is undemocratic and absurd.
According to him, a situation whereby people are kept out, or political benefits hijacked against others should not be a practice to be found in a society where there is love, regard, and respect for one another.
“In every LGA, we are brothers, and we relate with one another healthily, but sometimes, when it comes to sharing benefits, the situation changes. In the end, some are happy, while some are sad.
This is not a good one and such practice should be discouraged by every positive-minded individual,” he added.
Nwadike used the medium to x-ray the situation in Nkwerre LGA, calling on the leaders in the LGA to see the best way to end the disturbing concern raised by Bloc B Political fold, demanding an end to Political Inequality in the LGA.
Hon.Nwadike maintained that such will go a long way in fostering the inter-community relationships in the LGA as about 8 autonomous communities with five political Wards are agitating for a political sense of belonging by allowing them to produce the LGA Chairmanship position in the forthcoming LGA Election.
Saying it is right, just as they allowed Bloc A made up of about 3 Communities with five wards to produce the House of Assembly member during the last election.
“It is on record that since the inception of the present administration, Bloc A in Nkwerre LGA has occupied both the LGA administration and the House of Assembly position to date”.
” This is not going down well with the people of the LGA, thus calling for a permanent remedy,” he added.
Hon. Nwadike equally noted that this genuine demand is not targeted at any community, individual, or political Party but a germane call hinged on what is “sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander”.
He called on those misunderstanding the demand for an end to Political Inequality in Nkwerre LGA to refrain from the act and call a Spade a Spade.
“We all are humans, and humans have conscience. It is only machines that have no conscience and we are not machines.
“Democracy is the cake. Justice, equity, and fairness are the icing on the cake. For you to enjoy Democracy, those icings must be there. If not, it is “Agege bread” served to prisoners. We are not at war with each other and there are no prisoners here. This is just a simple call with understanding” ,he added.
To political parties, he charged them to overlook greedy members who are hell-bent on disorganizing internal democracy in the party by making unholy and unrealizable demand that runs contrary to equity, fairness and justice.
“We should be positive in decision making and support to the Party machinery and not subjecting it to a tight corner to achieve self-interest to the detriment of fellow party members”. This, he said, is bad.
“Any victory acquired in such a way is illicit and has no taste. It is not something to be proud of”, he concluded.
