“He was a Philanthropic Icon”.
The President General of the Apex Igbo Socio- Cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo ,Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu,has passed on yesterday, Thursday,July 25.
A release from his Media adviser ,Comrade Ben Osuagwu,former NUJ Chairman ,Imo State informed that the Philanthropic icon and political maestro died after a brief illness.
The release signed by his son, Mr.Jide Iwuanyanwu on behalf of the Iwuanyanwu dynasty states that he was survived by many children,grand children including Dr Nwadiuto,MD,Champion Group of Newspapers.
It was learnt that the leader of the Igbo group died in Abuja on Thursday(yesterday ) morning.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that he has been ill for a while.
A statement signed, Thursday by Jide Iwuanyanwu, the son of the philanthropist read in part:
“The Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State announces the demise of our patriarch, Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo,
“Chief Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday July 25, 2024 after a brief illness. He was aged 82. Chief Iwuanyanwu before his death was President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly.”
Report reveals that the great politician and business mogul was born, September, 1942 in Umuohii, Ikeduru LGA, Imo state.
Late Engineer Iwuanyanwu studied Civil Engineering and was an Alumni of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka,UNN and the
11th PG of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
According to the said release, the funeral arrangements of the Statesman will be announced by his family, soon.
The Igbo leader is survived by a wife, Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu ,Childrennand many grand children.
