…Say: Equity, fairness favours Mbaitoli East to produce next Chair.
Mbaitoli leaders and stakeholders have described as baseless, divisive and unfounded, recent media reports accusing the apex leader of the APC in the area, Chief Marcel Nlemigbo,
of alleged clannishness due to the zoning of the chairmanship position of the LGA to Mbieri.
At a Press conference in Owerri, yesterday, which had personalities like Hon Uche Nwole among other leaders in the area present, Barr Kingsley Ononuju while speaking on behalf of Mbaitoli leaders and stakeholders, queried the moral authority of some leaders of Mbaitoli South bloc who went to Press to cast doubts on Chief Nlemigbo’s leadership, saying that the said Mbaitoli South
bloc produced the current deputy governor of Imo State, and have benefitted immensely from political offices in Mbaitoli in the past including Transition Committee chairmen, Sole Administrators, SOLADs, House of Assembly members, among others.
The Mbaitoli leaders and stakeholders further clarified that the July 15 meeting held at the residence of Chief Nlemigbo, was for equity, fairness and peace since according to them, Mbaitoli East was not holding any elective position in the current dispensation.
“The accusations made against Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo are baseless and deliberate attempt to sow discord within our people.
” How can Mbaitoli South be marginalised when our very able Deputy Governor of Imo State,Her Excellency, Chinyere Ekomaru is from this bloc? This is an office that comes with numerous offices and appointments that presently favours more of the people of Mbaitoli South.
“Where then is the marginalisation? Where then is the clannishness?
” The leaders and stakeholders of our great party also took into consideration that Mbaitoli North is currently occupying the second highest position in Mbaitoli being the position of the State House of Assembly member, which has our brother, Hon Innocent Ikpamezie overseeing affairs.
“Where then is the marginalisation and clannishness when we asked that Mbaitoli East be allowed to produce the Local Government chairman. Where has Chief Marcon Nlemigbo gone wrong by joining other leaders and stakeholders of our great party, to proffer a simple solution that benefits everybody….?,” Mbaitoli leaders queried.
The leaders recalled that the convener of the Mbaitoli South Political leaders, Barr Chris Nwabia had benefited as a former Sole Administrator, SOLAD, of Mbaitoli LGA under the leadership of the same Chief Nlemigbo.
Barr Ononuju made it clear that the resolution by the leaders and stakeholders of APC in Mbaitoli was to serve as a guide to state the position of things, adding that the final decision on the matter would be at the discretion of Governor Uzodinma.
He called on Mbaitoli people to stand united and firm, in line with the visionary leadership of Governor Uzodinma and the APC constitution.
