…Urge SA to step on toes
Following his unrelenting efforts to sanitize the state of activities of illegal park operators and other anti road uses, motorists in Owerri Municipality have pledged their individual support for Pastor Frank Onwumere Special Adviser (SA) on Illegal Motor Parks.
Motorists who separately made the pledge at their various parks said within two weeks the SA began work the state capital has worn a new look noting that loading on the roads, illegal park activities, road trading and other traffic offences are now at low ebb.
A cross- section of motorists interviewed along Douglas Road explained that street trading had nearly taken over Douglas Road to the extent that the road was made narrow but since Pastor Frank Onwumere swam into action the road is as free as air now.
Motorists at the popular Orlu Road park commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for appointing Pastor Frank Onwumere who they described as a no nonsense man decrying the activities of illegal operators who claimed they are untouchables and assured their support to ensure all illegal parks are closed down.
A motorist who identified himself as Bishop noted with bitterness how some motorists who feel they are sacred cows load along the roads while the law abiding ones load at government designated parks.
According to him these highly placed illegal park operators claim no government can touch them.
Another motorist simply known as Bugatti said some cabals are coming together to frustrate the well loved Pastor Frank in his new office.
In his words,’ these cabals not only run contrary activities against government policies but they also drop the governor’s names. According to Bugatti they ensure traffic offenders never pay fines.
Adding his voice, Friday at Control Post said Pastor Frank Onwumere has brought human face to fight against traffic offenders appealing to all and sundry to give him support to succeed.
Recall that since his appointment as Special Adviser to Governor on illegal motor parks, Pastor Frank Onwumere has not only gotten rid of street trading on Douglas Road but has also brought the loading of vehicles on the roads to a minimum level.
