Government Stops Illegal Mining In Imo

Imo state government overnment has stopped illegal Mining in the state especially around Umukoto-Nekede -Ihiagwa-FUTO axis along the bank of Nworie and Otamiri Rivers

Anyone found mining along the places will be arrested, prosecuted and his dradging machine confiscated.

The Commissioner for Industries, Mines and Solid Minerals Chief Ernest Ibejiako gave the warning when he visited the sites and interacted with the miners there.

He gave them 48 hours to remove their dradgers  and dismantle other machines used in the illegal Mining as their activities had been causing serious ecological problems in the state.

Chief Ibejiako directed them to go and register with the ministry of Industries Mines and Solid Minerals for them to be relocated to a more conducive area for adequate Supervision.

The Commissioner also warned Tipper drivers to stop going to those areas for sand excavation.

Chief Ibejiako maintained that any Tipper driver caught will face the full wrath of the law.
