…As Founder-Ugonma sues for passion in its development
Excitement and joy rent the air as Creative Woman Foundation held one day arts exhibition in Owerri.
The exhibition which was held in collaboration with Imo state ministry of Culture and Tourism at Imo Cultural Centre witnessed participants from selected secondary schools in the state who featured in paintings and drawings.
Presenting her address the President of Creative Woman Foundation, Mrs. Ugonma Onyeama called for passion in creative arts among students in various schools assuring unrelenting efforts in hunting for talents.
She pointed out that some of the secondary schools visited previously by the Foundation in relation towards encouraging Arts creativity and development, led to the discovery that a good number of students had lost interest in the study of Arts. According to her the students therefore needed someone to spark them up at the junior level where they should grow to the upper classes with same zeal and passion for high level demand in their future lives.
She added that the economic benefits derivable from creative arts could not be over-emphasized, stressing that it would unite people together and make them have a relaxed mind.
In a similar manner, the President’s husband, Dr. Austin Onyeama stated that arts could bridge the gap of diversity in the society, therefore, actively needed to evolve from secondary School students in the state, through development of passion for arts study, expressing displeasure that many students at the senior secondary level had preferred choosing sciences to Arts, which they felt should equip them to become doctors, engineers, pharmacists and bankers.
Furthering, the Njaba born academician maintained that the recently held workshop had provided a platform through which all the attended school principals could use to convince their students to begin to do arts.
In his words,’My wife and I had in the past carried out an entrepreneurial teachings in both primary schools and universities. What we did today served as a continuity.
There was initial reluctance of the government to support the event. It was this one-day workshop that the Foundation got the first support from government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
He however thanked the producer of Toprank Insecticide, Dr. Uche Nnuji, and others for their assistance during the exercise.
Speaking newsmen, the representative of the C – Success Multi- Services Ltd.and the producer of Toprank Insecticide, Dr. Uche Nnuji, commended the efforts of the founder of Woman Creativity Foundation, Mrs. Ugonma Onyeama, in striving to revive the culture of arts in schools,by reaching out to the young ones, displeasing that the Art study was almost going into extinction.
He called for the re-introduction of Fine Arts as a subject in the secondary schools in the country, adding that it will be a money spinner in the future.
He used same medium to advise people to patronize the Toprank Insecticide because of its quality, affordability and sincerity of purpose in any house, noting that Toprank Insecticide had been in the market since 2013.
The highlights of one -day workshop on Unity in Diversity event were awards giving and Arts Exhibition Competition. Some awardees were Susan Chris Academy, Owerri Girls Secondary School, Government Secondary School secondary Emmanuel, Secondary School, Akwakuma Girls among others.
Prof. Kingsley Nworgu of IMSU, Barr. Jerry Egemba(Imo Commissioner for Culture, Arts Tourism), Dr. Uche Nnuji and others were equally awarded by the body.
