…Pharmaceutical industries should diversify, says Reagan Remedies MD

A one-day business summit organised by the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, Imo State Branch, held in Owerri, Wednesday, with a call on government to end the sale of drugs in the open market.
In a chat with newsmen during the event, ACPN national president, Pharm Wale Oladigbolu blamed the sale of fake drugs to the practice of selling drugs in the open market.
The ACPN helmsman who hinted that the association was concerned with how to better their practice for the benefit of members and society, equally called on government to remove tariffs on raw materials for pharmaceutical products in Nigeria.
The Managing Director of Reagan Remedies, Pharm. Leoni Nnadumije-Nwosu harped on the need for local pharmaceutical companies to expand further into areas like beauty products, aside from drugs manufacturing.
She called for active collaboration with the media in the area of awareness creation. This is even as she described the event as a success.
The chairman, ACPN Imo State Branch, Dr Chigozie Agbanusi in an interview, told newsmen that the business summit was conceived to give their members insight into how to apply business strategies to expand and grow in their practice.
Dr Agbanusi noted that though pharmacists are professionals, many of them may not have had the necessary business training to upscale their practice and expand their businesses.
The Imo ACPN boss further hinted that experts drawn from other fields outside pharmacy, were invited to share their knowledge with the members of the association.
He expressed delight at the calibre of participants drawn from other states of Nigeria who attended the summit.
Agbanusi particularly thanked the national chairman, Pharm Oladigbolu and her vice, Mrs Bridget Ototi, for being present at the event, describing the summit which had the theme: “Driving a Profitable Practice in a Dwindling Economy,” as a success.
