Imo  LGA Polls: My Deep Concern: Letter To IMHA Member, Nkwerre  State Constituency, Barr. Chisom Ojukwu

…A Call For Equity, Justice, Fairness

By Chigozie Nwadike

Needless to harp on the importance of giving everyone involved in a stake an equal sense of belonging, because what is sauce for the goose, is also sauce for the gander.

I wire to express my opinion which I am very sure is in tandem with the opinions of thousands of indigenes of the affected communities in Nkwerre LGA and many who have a fair view  mindset from Nkwerre ancient kingdom.

In Nkwerre LGA, we have Ten(10) political wards and these wards symmetrically are divided into two blocks , Block A and Block B ,each having 5 wards.

Coincidentally, Block A which is from Ward 1 to Ward 5 are located in Nkwerre ancient kingdom.

Block B is made up of Ward 6 to Ward 10 and these are scattered among the rest of the communities that made up Nkwerre LGA., about 7 or more communities with some communities being merged to one ward. There is a case of four (4) autonomous communities having only one Ward.

Also , politically , there are two fundamental positions domiciled in Nkwerre LGA which are alternated between these two Political Blocks : the House of Assembly position and the LGA Chairmanship Position.

In the last election, based on a gentleman’s agreement, Block A was asked to choose and they chose the position of the House of Assembly. The rest of the communities refused to support or field any other candidate that is not from Block A.

That saw the election of Barr. Nze Hon. CHISOM TED OJUKWU who contested on the platform of APC . Other parties fielded their candidates but all came from block A as agreed.

As the Imo State Government is making arrangements to conduct the LGA Elections, it will be morally wrong for anyone from Block A to indicate interest not to talk of being supported to contest for any LGA Position.

The honourable House member, as the representative of the people , ensuring fairness and equity cum justice, this call is for you to ensure that injustice is not the order of the day because this was what you promised as well .

As the representative of both Blocks, under your watch, we are sure that equal sense of belonging will be served as no Block is a political slave to the other. NONE !

Aside being a beneficiary to the agreement, it’s morally right for you to ensure that this agreement is not truncated or sacrificed on the alter of greed, no matter the logic or argument.

I am equally calling on the top five political leaders of Nkwerre LGA extraction and other concerned stakeholders to ensure that sanity is maintained in this political space of Nkwerre LGA, Imo state.

Every person from Block A (Ward 1 to Ward 5 ) should as a matter of fairness, justice and equity jettison the idea of contesting for LGA Chairmanship position for Nkwerre LGA,Imo State because not doing so will amount to moral bankruptcy.

In fact,  LGA Chairmanship and Vice chairmanship positions, the Leader of the Council and SecLog should be left for the rest of the communities to partake thus giving them a sense of belonging.

Hon Chisom Ojukwu , kindly see to this Appeal and do justice to it .

Thanks
