A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikirun, Osun State has ordered a 24-year-old man, Wahab Taofeek to be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a teenage girl.
It was gathered that the girl, an SSS student, was allegedly defiled and sexually abused by the accused person at gunpoint.
The incident, it was gathered, happened on June 1, 2024 when the 16-year-old victim (name withheld) was at their home around Dr. Bello Area of Ikirun with her siblings.
Narrating her ordeals in the hands of Taofeek and his friend who accompanied him to commit the crime, the victim told The Point in an exclusive interview that Taofeek forced him down a chair, poured a handful of salt in her mouth and started having forceful carnal knowledge of her.
She said, “My landlord’s son had come to knock at our door on the night of June 1, 2024 when the incident happened. When I opened the door, he demanded water and a plate to take garri. I later went to sleep that night. Few minutes later, someone was knocking at the door and I thought it was my landlord’s son who had wanted to return the plate he collected.
Magistrate A. O. Oyeniyi refused the accused person bail and ordered that Taofeek be remanded in the Correctional facility till July 15 for mention.
Meanwhile, the parents of the rape survivor have demanded justice in the matter.
According to the father of the victim, Basiru Oladosu, “I was not at home when my daughter was raped. I traveled to my farm. Five days before the incident happened, I had asked my wife to come and join me at the farm so that we could work together. It was the morning of the day she was to return that her friend whom she had asked to keep watch over our children called and informed us that our daughter has been raped. All we need is justice.”
