NURTW Leaders Visit Imo Commissioner For Transport-Abazu, Solicit Support

To achieve a well coordinated  and refined transport sector in Imo State, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers,NURTW, Imo State Chapter, Hon.  Samuel Udeh (Ezeumuokorobia) has led the State Administrative Council,SAC of the union on a courtesy call to the newly appointed Commissioner for Transport,Hon.Chika Benson Abazu.

The courtesy visit took place last  Thursday at the office of the Commissioner for Transport, at the State Secretariat in Owerri.

Congratulating the Commissioner on his befitting appointment by the State  Governor , the NURTW Boss affirmed that Hon. Abazu is undoubtedly a worthy fellow that knows his onion as it concerns administrative functions.

He identified Abazu as a loving, intelligent gentleman who will certainly take the transport sector to an enviable height, judging by his administrative ingenuity and political experience. a

He applauded the   Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma for his conscientious selection of men and women of great admiration with proven track records to work with him so as to  achieve his lofty dream of an aesthetic state.

Recalling the  reformation he has brought into the union so far upon his arrival as Chairman, Udeh solicited for the Commissioner’s support, to help boost the transformation in place, by taking up some of their current challenges mentioned to him to the governor for a attention.

Responding the cheerful Commissioner appreciated the delegation for their visit and show of solidarity, saying their visit has taken him down memory lane to recall when his own father was a member of NURTW having his own Lorries that then  plied Akokwa to Orlu axis.

Abazu opined that driving is a noble profession, regardless of the wrong perception of some persons in the state toward members of the union,even as he noted that he is proud to be a product of NURTW member.

The Commissioner informed that it was due to his hard work in bringing about quick reformation in his formerly assigned Ministry, Commerce and Industry, that propelled the Governor to reassign him to the Transport Ministry and urged him to replicate same transformation done in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry within few months, in his present Ministry of assignment.

He went on to assure the Unionists of his readiness to work in synergy with them to bring about the desired goal.

The commissioner noted that road transport system is the engine room that drives economy of the A state, and that NURTW is an integral part of that chain that will drive Imo economy.

“There is no economy that can run without a  good transport network, the movement from one point to another is the key thing for business, commerce and development, and when that movement is truncated it affects the economy. So, I am here to work with you and together build our State towards the ideas of our dear Governor,” Abazu promised.
