Recalling the unpleasant position of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Chapter, before the arrival of Hon. Samuel Udeh, (Ezeumuokorobia) as its Chairman, the Deputy Chief of Staff,CoS, on General Services to the Governor, Ferdinand Uzodinma, has lauded the Union’s Boss for his doggedness in transforming the Union in the state.
The commendation came when the NURTW State Administrative Council ,SAC led by its Chairman, Hon. Udeh, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Chief of Staff at Government House, Owerri, last Thursday.
Welcoming the Unionists, the Deputy Chief of Staff thanked them for displaying such a courage and taken wise decision to pay him a visit as he noted that their visit was a move in the right direction.
He hailed Governor Hope Uzodinma for appointing capable hands, men of integrity such as Udeh to man the transport sector hence, the glaring revitalization of the sector.
Assuring the delegation of his support in promoting the cause of the Union, Uzodinma charged the NURTW leaders not to abuse their positions nor use it as a weapon of intimidation or malignancy to their juniors or Imo people at large, but always bear in mind that God positioned them there to better lives of the people, as well as elevate the state.
The Deputy CoS urged Udeh to overlook the distractions coming from enemies of the Union and forge ahead in his administrative duties without any fear, even as he stated it is the governor that has the prerogative power to dismiss anyone found wanting from office and has not found him, Udeh wanting for a disapproval.
Udeh who spoke earlier, appreciated the Governor for appointing a man with capacity to indeed oversee all services in government, reminding the Deputy Chief of Staff that members of NURTW love the Governor and are his members of his structure, because of his immense love and attention to them.
He added that they fought hard to return the Governor in the last election and are ever ready to do more for him as his strong supporters.
Presenting a portrait to Ferdinand Uzodinma in appreciation, the NURTW Chairman stated that the primary purpose for their visit was to congratulate the Deputy Chief of Staff on his new appointment as well as solicit for his support, describing him as a good man whose image needed to be painted for posterity.
