Ohaji/Egbema born ace writer and politician Comrade Kenneth Uwadi has advised the Member representing Ohaji-Egbema-Oguta-Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Engr. Eugene Dibiagwu to stop the blame game and face his responsibilities as a representative of his people, adding that his blame game has become worrisome.
Uwadi wrote in his piece, titled, “Eugene Dibiagwu And His Blame Game”, “There is no doubt that the member representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Eugene Dibiagwu performed poorly in his one year in office. His performance has been worse than anyone imagines”.
He further wrote, ” ln one year, he had put his personal agenda ahead of the greater good of his constituents. He did not allegedly attract a single project to his constituency, he did not sponsor any bills or motions and did not facilitate any employment opportunities for any one”.
He stated, “Funny enough, for some time now he has been blaming and blackmailing his predecessor Hon Kingsley Uju for his inability to fulfill his campaign promises in the past one year. His E-rats are carrying propaganda against his predecessor.Only a Rep member like Dibiagwu that lacked competence and is challenged by knowledge and exposure will continue to blame his predecessor for his poor performance”.
Uwadi asked, “Is Hon Uju the reason for Dibiagwu’s failures in office? Today Uju did this , Uju did that. Tomorrow it will be Uju chop my yam, Uju drank my water. This is weak and tiresome. You are at the National Assembly to make a difference. Do your work, stop blaming your predecessor”.
According to him, ” all the machine-gun rat-tat-tating of ‘Uju did this and that ‘ are worthless because you are the present and your predecessor is the past. It is very clear that your one year in office shows that you are an incompetent legislator and your representation is the worst in the history of your federal constituency”.
He remarked, “No nuclear science or economic expertise is needed to explain your inability to attract a project to your constituency in one year or your inability to sponsor a bill or motion in one year.Other law makers like Hon Ikenga Ugochiyere are busy commissioning numerous class room blocks, boreholes, markets etc, but in Ohaji Egbema, Oguta and Oru West federal constituency, Dibiagwu is busy looking for who to intimidate”.
For him, “Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West constituents are currently drawing upon the metaphor of Fela Anikulapo’s famous song Suffering and Smiling to explain the crisis of his representation and the people managing to smile despite their sufferings”.
He continued, “but a Legislator can effectively deliver qualitative legislation and oversight functions in a way that promotes service delivery and a better standard of living for the people.
Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, when he was in office, is a perfect example of a working Legislator. He has a proven record of success in administrative governance and business management. He was visible on the floor of the House of Reps through his legislative engagements and oversight functions. He sponsored bills and motions. He attracted projects to his constituency. He met several times with Leaders, Stakeholders, Elected Chairmen, and Councilors’ of Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West. He promoted the growth of youths and women in the areas of Scholarship Programs, Business Grants, Skills Acquisition Programs, Capacity Development and Community Development Projects,
“Dibiagwu, reportedly has failed in leadership in the past one year, going into blaming mode rather than accountability mode. He chose to tap into the drama of feeling like a victim rather than putting creative energy and working for the people. When you sign up to lead, you need to do just that. No blaming. No avoidance. No deflecting and definitely no whining. Not everyone deserves to be in a leadership position. But if we ask for the keys, we need to learn how to drive responsibly. And most importantly, we need to start driving. As it turns out, winning is all that Dibiagwu does” he added.
