…As Awarra-Court-Area insists on chairmanship position
…Youths want to protest
Indications are rife that the alleged deft moves to deny Awarra-Court-Area of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area the chairmanship position in the September 21 scheduled LGA elections in Imo, may precipitate serious crisis as the youths of area are believed to have vowed to resist the move.
Following several meetings and consultations on the recent happenings in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, over the zoning of the chairmanship position to Awarra-Court-Areas for the forthcoming Imo LGA polls, speculations are rife that groups and individuals may have begun subterranean moves to resist any attempt by some top leaders of the LGA to truncate the zoning arrangement that is widely believed to favour Awarra-Court-Area which is widely believed to be the turn of Awarra-Court-Area.
Source in the area finger some top APC leaders in the LGA including former minister, a former NDDC commissioner and his wife among others, as the alleged actors in the said controversy plot to thwart the zoning arrangement and possibly stop Awarra-Court-Area from taking her own turn in producing the next executive chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA.
Meanwhile Rt Hon Opiah, Prof. Vitalis Nwulu, his , Dr. Mrs. Nina Nwulu are among top APC leaders in the area who are believed to be in the position to take decisions on the issue of zoning of the chairmanship position of Ohaji/Egbema. The people of Awarra-Court-Area are said to fuming over the alleged plot to scuttle the zoning arrangement for their alleged self interest.
It was gathered the plot to scuttle the zoning arrangement could be vehemently resisted by the people of the said Awarra-Court-Area.
Awarra-Court-Area indigenes went further to appreciate Imo governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, for the peace he brought to the area through Managing Director Imo State Oil Development Area Commission ISOPADEC, Chief Charles Orie, and called on Chief Goodluck Opia a former Minister for State (Education) to ensure that peace and justice prevailed in the matter.
They expressed fears that anything done to disrupt the zoning arrangemrnt either by omission or commission, could lead to an unending crisis in the area. While also thanking the governor for his kind and cordial relationship with people.
They urged Opia, Nwulu , and others to allow allow Awarra-Court-Area to have her turn vis-à-vis the chairmanship of LGA Ohaji/Egbema.
They begged Governor Uzodinma to intervene in the matter for peace to reign.
They alkeged that there is a plot to keep marginalizing the oil rich blocs or segments by some of those who call themselves leaders of the LGA.
Awarra-Court-Area people recalled with shock and disbelief previous statement allegedly credited to a former minister to the effect that Awarra-Court-Areas as an oil-rich bloc deserved not to have economic power and at the same time political power.
According to them, the statement which they term vulgar, was allegedly made when a high-power delegation was sent to him by the respectful leaders of the communities that made up of the Awarra-Court-Area demanding that he should allow them to have Ohaji/ Egbema 2023 State House of Assembly slot.
Apparently referring to a top leader in Ohaji/Egbema believed to be part of the alleged plot to scuttle their chance of producing the next council chairman, Awarra-Court-Area people said, “You can’t take it all or even imagine to take it from us. Any attempt to do so could lead to crisis.
“Bear in mind that we are still the golden hen that hashes the golden eggs in the state.
“That you are getting whatever you are getting today in government, it is the making of Awarra-Court-Area.
“… Why trying to deny the help of Chief Charles Orie in helping you to become whatever you are today”. Why?
“You always derive joy from denying us our rightful positions.
“It is now in everlasting record that communities and the entire Ohaji Nation have noted that Rt.Hon. Opiah and Prof. Vitalis Nwulu’s family have today June 17,
2024, launched their pre- planned plot to dislodge the political co-existence in Awarra Court Area and Ohaji Nation.
Recall that the entire leadership of Ohaji/Egbema LGA held a meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the residence of their apex leader, High Chief Orie, the Traditional Prime Minister of Ohaji Nation) where critical stakeholders and supporters of both APC and Governor Uzodinma administration were in attendance. The meeting afforded the attendees opportunities to brainstorm on the inequality and imbalance of political power sharing in the recent political dispensations, and resolved that Awarra Court Area should produce the executive chairman in the forthcoming LGA elections in the interest of equity and fairness.
The people of Awarra-Court-Area hinted that
the June 17 gathering in the house of Kelvin Ugwu, was an alleged dead-on arrival gang-up in the eyes of Awarra Court Area people.
They maintained that the alleged attempt to deny them the council chairmanship was a challenge to the Awarra Court Area and that they would rise to the occasion to make sure that the bloc produced the next LGA council chairman.
